Greetings!

This issue has our fourth article in our five part series on how to succeed with no money.  Our feature article will discuss ways to negotiate favorable deals with manufacturers to help launch your product or business.

We have a first for our inventor story this issue: the article is written by the inventor.  Read in her own words about the difficulties of bringing a product to market and what she has learned from it.

Also, the Packaging Diva has written a great article about packaging innovations that you won't want to miss.

Enjoy!

Ups and Downs of Inventing The Folding Wagon
money man by Tami and Tom Galt
Feeling a need to be creative and hoping to make some extra money, I decided to work on an idea I had a couple of years earlier - a folding wagon.  My idea was to design a big, strong wagon which easily folds to fit in a compact bag so it can go in any car.  After months of working out the design and building prototypes with my husband Tom, I showed it to an expert who helps inventors (free of charge).  He was very enthusiastic, so my husband and I decided to go ahead and work on getting a patent.  With full-time jobs and had a two year old child, devoting the tremendous time and resources to manufacture and launch a complicated product such as The Folding Wagon was out of the question.  Licensing was our best option.  I called numerous manufacturers, but I could not even get an appointment.

Valentine's Day is one of the best holidays because it's emotionally connected to the heart; and the heart is at the crux of what connects product packaging to consumers. If your product packaging cannot "connect" to the consumer, then it will never make its way out of the door.
