Greetings!

In this issue we have our third part of our five part series on how to succeed with no money. This part will be on signing a fair licensing agreement.

Our inventor story this issue is also about licensing. Read how two women found a great company to license their product and take it world-wide.

The Packaging Diva has also prepared an article on what to do in 2007 to create great packaging.

Enjoy!

How to Succeed with No Money

Sign a Fair Licensing Agreement

Inventors are often struggling with little or no money to bring their invention to market. This often leaves inventors broke looking for anyone to pay them anything for their idea. When someone else takes their idea and makes millions of dollars, this often leaves those inventors heart broken. Does it need to be like this? Absolutely not. There are many ways for inventors to make money from their idea, even if they have no money to invest.

Working out a fair licensing agreement will take time and money and if you are broke you won't be able to sign a deal that is fair for you. So you need to plan ahead and not leave licensing as a last ditch effort. While it can be much cheaper than producing the product on your own, in some cases very low cost, there are still expenses you need to plan for and it may be a long haul before your product gets licensed. But certainly it is better to struggle with your idea for awhile and get royalties then to sell it for a modest price only to see it become a huge success with billions of dollars in sales.

Inventor Story: Caroline Shengle and Lisa Beltezore

Shengle and Beltezore had mischievous dogs. They liked to chew about anything thing they could get a hold of. Then Shengle and Beltezore had the idea of freezing food and treats in an ice cream pail with water and leaving them for the dogs to chew. The dogs loved these treats, but they would often drag them everywhere, including into the house. That's when they realized they needed to mount the frozen treats and secure them on a little platform and the Kool Dogz Ice Treat Maker was born.
