Greetings!
Valentine's Day can elicit a number of responses. It's easy to cynically write it off with the deluge of mushy, sentimental and just plain tacky messages that surface around this time. (I know I do). I realized I needed a new definition of romance and here it is: A joyous, visceral connection to another person.
A loving touch stirs the soul, soothes the brain and gives a health boost - especially if you skip the sugar-laden chocolates.
And it makes you less vulnerable to stress. Touch (as does our yoga practice) lowers the presence of the stress hormone cortisol, which can suppress the immune system in excess amounts. It has been said socially isolated people die earlier than those more socially connected.
What to do if you don't have your Valentines dinner booked already?? How about doing something challenging and novel together?? Sign up for a partner yoga class during this month, book each other a massage, go sledding, or have a snowball fight (no hard throwing though!)
Regardless of what the groundhog saw, the days ARE getting longer, so spring will be here soon....

Follow this link to a very informative article!
YOGA FOR SINUS RELIEF |
Massage in Clinical Trials Once considered a pampering treat and luxury, Massage Therapy has proven itself not only for its relaxation, stress reduction, and relief for the overstressed muscles, but also as an integral part of health, healing and recovery.
John Hopkins Hospital, who conduct clinical trials, has conducted many trials on the benefits of massage therapy, the most recent being "Massage Therapy for Arthritis of the Knee".
Consider Massage Therapy for medical conditions in lieu of reaching for over the counter pain medicine or to reduce your dependance on pain medication long term. If you are unsure if your condition would respond to Massage Therapy, give us a call and we will provide you with more information for you and your physician to evaluate.
Also, consider speaking to your physician about their knowledge of any clinical trials in massage being conducted through hospitals they are affiliated with. Your involvement can be a part of research paving the way for Massage Therapy integrated into all Medicine!
