| To achieve Peace requires Commitment - Gabriel Cousens asks "Are you ready?" |
|
Gabriel Cousens is coming November 6 to speak to WRNEC. He urges all of you to pray for peace. He wishes to catalog the people meditating each day. Please send me an email with its subject "Peace Meditation" and give me your name to register with Gabriel. Then we will be part of his next book "Creating Peace by Being Peace". My email is betsy@rawnewenglandcommunity.com. His complete article will be in the website article section by 5/15.
World Peace-the healing of the world-is achieved through a very simple principle: We Create Peace By Being Peace. It is this universal truth that has inspired the Peace Every Day Initiative, a global, collective, daily, meditation of peace. The purpose is to unite a minimum of 8,000 people, while holding the vision of 144,000 or more people, to meditate/pray by becoming the vibration of peace for 40 minutes or more each day, individually and especiallly in groups. Any time of day is effective, though sunrise or sunset are powerful nodal times. This powerful thought-form of peace is enough to shift the global consciousness so that we may fully celebrate peace on earth!
Launching the Initiative ~
The Peace Every Day Initiative ( www.peaceeveryday.org) was launched on November 8, 2003 at sunset. It is an accelerated opportunity for humans to work collectively to enhance the transformation of the planet. It begins by simply actualizing the practice of being peace by meditating/praying at the time of sunset and continuing daily with the commitment. All are invited to make a commitment to this matrix of peace at anytime-so that Peace Every Day Initiative may gain momentum until 8,000 or more peace workers around the globe are holding the vibration of Peace on Earth!
Making the Commitment of Peace ~
In order that we may usher in the reign of peace, the Peace Every Day Initiative asks that each person who feels deeply connected to the process of peace on earth to make a commitment for a minimum of four years to be peace by meditating or praying for 7-10 or 40 minutes or more each day, 5-7 days per week. A meditation/prayer of 40 minutes (or longer) has been selected to honor the sacred number of 40, a number of purification. This amount of time will support each participant in experiencing a quiet mind and becoming and sustaining the vibration of peace. We create this collective vortex of peace at the times when we as humans of the world gather together. The collective support of others in your community, be it at a workshop, class, or friendly affair, help make it easier to go into meditation and experience the vibration of peace. Although it may be true that sunrise or sunset, the two nodal times of the day, are the most effective times for the vibration of peace to be transmitted into the global mind, it is more important that in our daily gatherings as peaceable beings we practice the initiative. Even for those who already have a daily meditation/prayer practice, your participation in the Peace Every Day Initiative without changing your existing practice is an act of making a conscious global action for creating peace.
May Peace Prevail on Earth! | |

| Waltham Pick-up of CSA Organic vegetables |
|
|
What: Buy a share today: call Barbara DeSouza @781-899-7817 for more information, or better, mail a check for $ 575 for a full share or $ 350 for ½ a share
When: Thursdays after 3 PM
Where: Home of Steve & Barbara DeSouza, 104 Summit St., Waltham
We've met our quota. You can now pick up raw organic CSA vegetables in Waltham. Buy your organic vegetables for the whole season from a farmer who has been growing organic vegetables for 10 years. The vegetables will be delivered to 104 Summit Street in Waltham, pick-up day is Thursday. This will buy 15 weeks of fresh, organic vegetables.
Organic fruits and vegetables are grown without pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. When plants aren't coated in pesticides to help fight off disease, they develop stronger compounds to protect themselves. If you eat that produce, you get those disease-fighting compounds, too. What's more, organic produce often has better flavor than conventionally grown foods. Since they're usually locally grown, they ripen later and are picked at their peak instead of being picked early to ensure survival during shipping.

| Write to your presidential candidate |
|
|
Take political action to improve the world's health. Here is a letter written by Gabriel Cousens to a candidate.
Gabriel Cousens, MD 686 Harshaw Road PO Box 778 Patagonia, AZ 85624
Senator Barack Obama P.O. Box 8102 Chicago, IL 60680
Dear Senator Barack Obama,
Though there are several important issues in this election perhaps more important than your health policies, such as the war in Iraq and the failing US economy which has been made worse by the war expenditures, but, this letter is about getting some deeper answers on your health policies. I ask these questions as a holistic health physician who has been in practice for approximately 35 years as an author of many books on health and nutrition, and as a grandfather who cares a lot about future generations including my grandchildren. Your answers will go out 12,000 people and perhaps reach the estimated 50 million Cultural Creatives who have some interest in the health issues.
The first question is that your health approach does not in any way approach the "elephant in the living room," which is that: while the US spends the most money on healthcare on the top 19 industrial nations, the US is 19th out of 19 in terms of quality of overall health results. Iatrogenic-caused deaths (killed by medicine properly prescribed) are now the leading cause of death in the U.S., ahead of cancer and heart disease according to Carolyn Dean, M.D., N.D. in her book Death By Modern Medicine. It is unfortunate, but these are the hard-core facts. Your proposal has taken key elements from Professor Jacob Hacke's plan, outlined in an Economic Policy Institute briefing paper, which makes a point: "American's $2.2. trillion-a-year medical complex is enormously wasteful, ill-targeted, inefficient, and unfair." This is made worse by a health system focusing on shareholder profits, inflated CEO salaries, an "FDA-industry revolving door," and excessive administrative spending that takes 20-24% of healthcare spending, as compared to Canada, which spends just 16% on administrative costs. In the top 18 quality healthcare systems, the average percentage of the administrative costs is 11-12%. Canada spends 9% of its GDP on its health care system, as compared to the US, which spends 16.1% of the GDP. It is blatantly obvious that we are spending more for less quality care.
The answer lies not in just moving to a National Healthcare system, but a system that gets to the roots of the increasingly poor health and ineffective approaches to chronic diseases. We do not have to go much farther than the research cited in 1961 by the Journal of American Medicine that 97% of all heart disease could be prevented by a nutritious vegetarian diet; or The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D. from the Department of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University, which showed that the amount of chronic disease in a country was inversely proportional to the percentage of plant foods in the diet.
In this context:
a) Where do you stand on the Codex Alimentarius issue? In the Codex Alimentarius, they have proposed making almost all health-improving qualities and doses of supplements illegal or not available except a few at greatly increased prices through pharmaceutical companies. This would be for every nation involved in trade of food, including the U.S.A. Codex is also promoting genetically modified food, irradiated foods, heavily pesticided and herbicided foods, and even reintroducing previously banned pesticides - all proven to be deleterious to our health. Meanwhile, Codex is threatening to outlaw organic and live foods, proven to be healthful and the very basis of health, which is healthy food and a plant-based dietary approach. If you think this is not true, just have on of your assistants read through Codex's proposals. Are you for or against Codex Alimentarius?
b) Are you for or against protection of our health rights by maintaining the integrity of DSHEA? DSHEA presently protects the availability of supplements in the US and a person's choice of how much to have for daily and therapeutic doses. According to Professor Roger Williams, in his book, Biochemical Individuality, one's daily and therapeutic doses vary according to the genetics of a person by as much as fivefold. DSHEA is under attack by the same forces that support Codex. Are you for or against protection of our health rights by maintaining the integrity of DSHEA?
c) The third question is about forced vaccinations. Using CDC (Centers for Disease Control) data, we can extrapolate that there are over 800,000 seriously injured children and adults from the use of vaccines each year. This includes a variety of serious side effects, including life-threatening reactions, hospitalizations, life-long disabilities, deaths, seizures, febrile seizures, infantile spasms, encephalitis/encephalopathy, speech disorders, paralysis, asthma, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Guillain-Barre syndrome, MS, asceptic meningitis, autism, ADD, hyperactivity, severe depression, and anxiety, which are caused by a general brain inflammation that is caused by a reaction to the vaccinations, as neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D., points out. Other physical problems include type-I diabetes. In Finland, after a series of vaccinations was introduced, there was a documented 147% increase in type-I diabetes. There was also a 600% increase in polio the first year the polio vaccine was introduced. Vaccine-caused polio has, with some improvement in preparation, decreased from its peak, but vaccinations remain the main cause of polio. The polio vaccinations also remain the main cause of the increase in asceptic meningitis. Physical problems caused by vaccine reactions also include rheumatoid arthritis, and there is an association with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Although we may say it is controversial and it will take years to prove this is happening (it took 30 years to prove smoking caused lung cancer), there is today a rising tide of research and concerned parents and grandparents who want the option not to vaccinate. The best research shows that here has been, at best, a 4% decrease in infection disease that can be attributed to vaccinations. For comparison, the decrease in infectious disease is far larger due to the overall affect of good hygiene and improved nutrition since 1900. Vaccines are neither safe nor effective. Claiming they are safe and effective is false advertising and should be outlawed by the FDA.
Do you feel, now and in the future, vaccinations should be optional or mandatory?
Thank you for your time to answer these questions for the public.
Gabriel Cousens, M.D.

We have a chore wheel which is a nice and simple weekly thing that's worked so far. House meetings are useful ways to check in, having them more than once per month might work well. Our desire is to share meals at least once a week as a household. Our friendly downstairs neighbor teaches Piano, Marimba, and Japanese lessons in house-calls and at home, she comes up for dinner from time to time. The Neighborhood Generally working class, artistic young people & families, mixed ethnically. We are close to Somerville High School, the Library and City Hall.
UNION SQ ROCKS! There are numerous shops in the area from convenience stores to ethnic markets including Indian, Carribean, East-Asian, Brazilian, and Italian. There's a Market Basket (cheap grocery store) in walking distance, but we Bulk shop at Harvest and WholeFoods for our shared Pantry. Lots of nice restaurants including Macchu Picchu (Peruvian), India Castle... and a great Korean restaurant that we love! Open street parking. We are on bus lines that go to every T stop in Cambridge and Somerville with the exception of Alewife. Bus stops outside our door! We Bike & walk everywhere. We work hard and at home we like to relax, watch movies, read, DIY craft, knit and sew, play chess and other games, make culinary creations, and make music. Welcome music lovers or creative music-making persons! Let us know how all of this sounds. Tell us about yourself! Thanks, and feel free to give us a call any time. We are showing these rooms this weekend. --Nate & Ama 617-899-8430 Nate Peyman Reiki Master, Lic. Massage Therapist inventinghealing@gmail.com 617-899-8430
