Letter from the President, Michael DeLuise
Believe it or not 2010 is just about over. So it is time for us to think about making our New Year's resolutions. At the Melville Chamber of Commerce our mission is simple and straightforward. So for 2011 and all the years that will follow we resolve to continue focusing all of our attention on supporting the needs of our members, their employees, families and neighbors. As a volunteer organization here only to help you succeed, we are proud to offer you many significant benefits at little or no cost. Most of our meetings are free to members. The advice we offer is without cost to you and it is always there for the asking. Our conveniently scheduled meetings are planned with you in mind to highlight important guests and subjects set in a comfortable atmosphere enabling those in attendance to interact one-on-one with our speakers. While we at the Chamber make our exciting plans for the New Year we suggest you think about your own New Year's resolutions. When it comes to your involvement in the Melville Chamber we have a few suggestions that should help you get the most out of your membership in our rapidly growing organization. Be involved. To get the most out of your membership you and your employees are invited to actively participate on Chamber committees. As the Chamber grows in membership, effectiveness and respect, your involvement in the organization places you and your company in a highly visible leadership position. Speak up. As the Chamber continues to prove itself to be an essential Long Island business group, our elected officials, the media and the community we serve are listening to us more and more each day. As a member of the chamber these important people want to hear what you say. And your fellow members are very interested too. Tell us how we can make things better for you. Let us know when we are doing a good job or when we need to improve. Mentor. The most important resource we have on Long Island is the great pool of talented young men and women who have the talent and proven ability to lead us all into a strong and profitable future. Trouble is we are losing to many of them to other areas. Through the Melville Chamber's Young Professionals Group we urge our members to meet with and get to know some of these fine individuals. By offering young local executives a little advice and support, you will be doing a great service in helping Long Island retain these important future leaders. Buy local. Whether you are in the market for office supplies, a limo to the airport, insurance or lunch, look to a local business to make your purchase. There are a wide array of Chamber members and area businesses that can offer you superb service, excellent products and highly competitive prices. Remember that each dollar you spend locally can be multiplied as much as six times in return to our local economy. Recruit. From what we hear, people are saying great things about the Melville Chamber of Commerce. If you are one of those who appreciate what our organization is doing, we suggest you help us spread the word. The more members like you who are actively involved with helping us improve life and business throughout our community the more we can be effective. Take advantage of the Member Referral Program Call us. Pick up the phone and give us a call. Make reservations for our many events. Ask how you can be involved. Find out about Chamber committees and mentor programs. Let us know what we can do to help you get the most out of your membership in the Melville Chamber of Commerce. Our number is 631-777-6260. Visit our website frequently. The Chamber website (www.melvillechamber.org) is a great resource. Learn about the group and make reservations for events. Explore the membership list. Discover special offers and opportunities ie; the Member to Member Discount Program, etc. And have a great holiday. The Board and Staff of the Melville Chamber of Commerce wish you and yours a very happy and healthy holiday season and great success in the future.
Best regards,
Michael DeLuise President Melville Chamber of Commerce
