Letter from the President, Michael Deluise
The member companies of the Melville Chamber of Commerce realize
running a business in Nassau or Suffolk counties is like spending your days on
a true paradise island. Throughout the Route 110 Corridor the business climate
is especially good. But even paradise is
not a completely perfect environment.
Sometimes I feel we could all really use a "business
meteorologist" to help keep us away from the dangers of stormy conditions. When
the business climate is bright we all take time to catch our breaths as we relax
on a beautiful beaches and soak up the warmth of the economic sun. Life can be
really good for us, our employees and the community we serve.
When clouds come in and the storm begins to build we usually come
in out of the rain to put things back on track. No matter how good things are,
even in a great season there are storms. Occasionally those storms are very
big. For the last year or so we've found little time to relax and soak in the
rays of success because of the national and international economic crisis
affecting local, national and businesses all across the globe.
In most respects we have weathered the storm very well. We at the
Melville Chamber of Commerce are proud to be one of the very important
resources of a thriving business community that continues to thrive and grow
during challenging times.
We can all make predictions about the future but in truth no one
knows what tomorrow will bring. We can just about guarantee the future will
include many sunny days with a mix of showers. As good as things are we have to
be prepared for whatever happens next.
That is why your chamber is here. To help you prepare for the
future. In some way we are more valuable to you than any business meteorologist
could ever hope to be. That is because we can help you change the future. We
are not only here to warn members of a coming tsunami or an economic
earthquake. By participating in the chamber together we work to divert the
waves of danger presented by any tsunami and fix the cracks in our foundation
to could lead to a financial earthquake.
The chamber is here to help you succeed today and grow tomorrow.
Your participation in the chamber and its activities do make a difference. We
are that umbrella providing you shade and keeping you out of the storm. Our board and committees spend a great deal
of time and energy giving you access to the tools you and your company need.
By sharing your ideas and concerns we can do an even better job
for you. If you see a problem out there please let us know. Whether it's traffic
congestion, employee recruitment and retention, a quality-of-life issue or a
message you feel an elected official should hear let us work together to make
the 110 corridor an even better place to do business on this paradise we call
on Long Island.
Best regards,
Michael Deluise President Melville Chamber of Commerce
