Tips for Success at WBENC National Conference
| |
The WBENC National Conference & Business Fair is just over a month away and the First Time Attendee Orientation team would like to share a few pointers that will help make your conference experience a profitable one.
Here are three, but watch for the next issue of the conference E-Newsletter for additional marketing tips. Plan to attend first time attendee orientation in the afternoon on June 18th for even more ideas.
Identify Your Prospects:
- Before you attend the WBENC conference review the sponsor/exhibitor list on the WBENC conference website and identify your top 10 prospects. You cannot network and build relationships with everyone at the tradeshow, so it's important that you have your top 10 prospects and enter them in the "My Show Planner".
- Do your research: Learn as much as possible about your prospect by reviewing their website, annual report, press releases, and any other information you can obtain through public channels. If possible ask people that have done business with that company.
- Information you should know before approaching your prospect:
- What is their business
- Company's mission, vision and values
- Strategic focus
- Supplier Diversity Program
- Learn a little bit about their competitors
- Any other information you can obtain to help you develop your personalized pitch
- Once you identify your prospects go to their supplier website and register your company before arriving at the conference.
- See if it is possible to schedule a specific time to introduce yourself or meet with a company representative while you are in Orlando. If not, then look for them during the many networking events.
- At the conference, make sure you dedicate enough time to get to know your prospect and try to uncover their pain points. This will help you develop a strategic solution for your prospect
- Note that it takes time, sometimes years, to develop a relationship and gain information. At the end it's worth it because once you build a relationship with your prospect, you can have someone who shares information with you and can champion your services within their company.
