Issue No. 209   September 2011

The 12th Floor Atrium at 180 W Washington.

The new SolidLine offices are up and running in Chicago's downtown loop! After more than a year of planning and preparation the SolidLine crew has completed a large scale move that expanded the production offices and is providing a much more productive, creative work environment for the crew.

The new SLM offices, which occupy the entire 12th floor at 180 West Washington in Chicago, feature 3 Avid editing suites, a full Art Department, Digital Rapids encoding system, a 30x25 studio space with dressing room, and plenty of other production offices and creative spaces.

"It is great to have a work space that we were able to create

The SolidLine crew worked with close friends Hey Champ on their new music video "Silver City" off their Anything at All EP. The production, which features their beloved Windy City, was shot throughout Chicago earlier this year.

"The boys and I at Hey Champ appreciate SolidLine's production support during the 'Silver City' music video shoot in Chicago," states Hey Champ Lead Singer Saam Hagshenas. "Their expertise helped make the video a complete success."

2 Qs with SolidLine Production Assistant Allison Miller

You started 2 weeks before the office move...what's it been like seeing SolidLine transform into the new space?

Exceptionally amusing and fun!  I was happy to be a part of the moving process and put my bubble-wrapping and packing skills to the test.  The crew is very deserving of such a respectable office to work in; not to mention the amount of space gained with the move!  Everyone's hard work has paid off and it's been an awesome experience thus far.

What's the most unique thing you have learned so far on set?

How to tighten the blade of a push lawn mower.  This is something I will never forget and will always be happy to share with others!

What's your favorite part of the new office?

Mike Petrik, Art Director

Having a window.

Ed Boe, Director of Photography / Editor

That I get to share an office with Kevin.

Kevin Wright, Production Coordinator

The secret doorway that puts me in the head of John Malkovich...and that I get to share an office with Ed.

Justin Younger, Motion Graphics Artist

My fancy new Mac.

Marcus Leshock, Writer

The shower, I love it!

Allison Miller, Production Assistant

The fact that the chairs in the Atrium match the new mahogany wood flooring. Phew!!!

Alex Blanchette, Fall Production Intern

The dry-erase wall in the Production Office. Who doesn't love writing on walls?

Michael Kromm, Creative Director

The new HD encoding technology, Digital Rapids. It has been quite a learning curve, but will greatly benefit our clients.

Greg Vass, Executive Producer

I love the comfortable spaces as well as the new signage and branding - the place is definitely SolidLine!
