The new SolidLine brand is locked and loaded and ready for a launch just 28 days from today on June 1st. A lot of heart and soul has gone into the new look and we are all excited to freshen up our image. This biggest change, in addition to the new SolidLine logo and brand, will be our newly expanded website. The new site will be completely integrated with the current SolidLine blog, and will provide current and prospective clients a complete online library of videos separated into galleries. These online galleries will feature Promotional, Training, Educational, Motion Graphic, 3d Animation, Testimonial / Interview, and Conference video production projects. The new site will also feature Case Studies, a live Twitter feed, and a wealth of information about what makes SolidLine so different.

Greg does an on-camera interview for longtime SLM partner, ProductionHub. Definitely not happy to be on the other side of the camera...
For the first time in 3 years, the SLM crew headed to our annual industry conference, National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), April 13-15 in Las Vegas. NAB 2010 brought together over 100,000 production industry professionals from across the globe for several days of learning and networking...and to play with a ton of the latest and greatest production toys of course. SolidLine plans to make several key system upgrades in late 2010 and met with our technology partners to learn more about improved workflow solutions, location production gear upgrades, and office infrastructure improvements. SolidLine also had private demos and meetings with AVID and Adobe software engineers.

"NAB presented SolidLine with a unique opportunity to meet and network with several colleagues on both the production and the post-production and graphics sides," exclaims Michael Kromm, SLM Creative Director. "We constantly need to learn how we can improve our business and this is one great place to get a lot of knowledge in a short amount of time."

In preparation for the new brand launch, SolidLine has launched a new Flickr site! This site already has already been updated with hundreds of production photos from the last few years, but will also be updated daily with exciting images from our crew on the road and in the studio. In addition, the Flickr page will be integrated into the new SolidLine website, so photos will randomly appear throughout the site, keeping everything fresh and up to date.

Now you can see all the amazing places we've filmed right online at the SLM Flickr photo gallery. Check it out!

Michael Kromm
Creative Director

Kromm (that's how we differentiate the Mikes around here), is Creative Director and Co-Founder of SolidLine. A graduate of the esteemed Film School at the Florida State University, Michael quickly found editing to be his forte and now heads up the Post-Production department at SolidLine (amongst a million other duties). He also travels to most productions to do audio. But, more importantly, he is only 1 of 3 licensed drivers for the SLM bus.

2 Q's with Kromm

What's the most valuable lesson you have learned since starting SolidLine almost a decade ago?
If starting your own business was easy then everyone would do it. I learned that in the first week. Also, being a nice, kind person goes a long way to get things done - and not just to your clients, but also your employees and vendors.

What's the best part about your job?

Something new everyday and the variety of people we get work with across the world. There is so much to learn about many different businesses and industries when being a part of our productions – it's a really cool experience. But the relationships are probably the best part. We have clients that will be friends for a lifetime. That is something we never knew would happen when we went into business and it’s really a great thing!
