December 2008
Greetings! Phyllis Anderson

Season's warmest greetings to you!

Our hearts are bursting this Christmas! Bursting with joy. Bursting with gratitude. Bursting with love for all of you.

We have been so richly blessed this past year that our hearts are simply bursting. Were I to write a million words I could not say it all.

So let me just say this: thank you. For your prayers and gifts and the wonderful students you send to us, "thank you." We feel it. We feel the love and support from you every day. We know it will soon be Christmas. We hear the music and see the decorations just as you do. We wait with you for the coming of the Christ child.

But we receive the dear Christ every day at PLTS.  You usher him into our hearts every time you say a prayer or send a gift and encourage a student.

We know it. It's all around us. We are so abundantly blessed.

Our hearts are bursting with joy and gladness for you.

Wishing you abundant blessings this season and always.

And peace.

Kalin Scholarship Receives $350,000 Bequest

Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary recently received $350,000 from the estate of Margaret KalinsZechman. The gift is designated for the Everett R. and Clara M. Kalin Scholarship Fund, and it will be used to assist students of color, students whose primary language is something other than English, or international students as they pursue their degrees at PLTS.

PLTS is honored to be so remembered by Margaret Zechman, and is grateful to the Kalins for the lasting impact they made on her and the lasting legacy they are leaving for future students at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. To read more about this gift, go to Zechman Estate Bequest.
Generous Donor Will Match Your Gift

Earlier this year, Lori Eickmann and Stephen Wright offered to match new and increased gifts to the annual fund up to $10,000. That challenge was met, thanks to all who made their annual gifts.

Now another generous donor has stepped forth to match new and increased gifts to the annual fund, up to a total of $25,000, if they are received before the end of the calendar year.

Gifts made directly from IRAs will also be matched until the $25,000 challenge is met. Your Required Minimum Distribution or a portion of it can be given directly to PLTS with favorable tax consequences. Contact your IRA administrator or Joel Wudel in the development office at jwudel@plts.edu for more information.

Help us meet this challenge! Make your gift to Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary before the end of the year and make twice the impact on the seminary. If you are a Thrivent member, your gift will mean even more. Follow this link to make your gift online: Online Giving.
