Greetings!

If you called, or called by the office this week, you'll James Burbidge 2probably have heard - we've moved offices. It's been chaos, but we've muddled through and should be all settled in and back to normal service by Monday.

Our new address is:

St George's Church
Bloomsbury

      London

      WC1A 2HR

But do give us a ring before you pop by as getting in can be a little tricky. Our phone number remains the same: 0207 287 3833.

As you may have heard, the recent riots burned down a Sony warehouse containing huge amounts of stock for independent UK distributors like Dogwoof, Revolver, Terracotta and many more. As with all small businesses, cash-flow problems can be tough to get through. If you want to help, you can buy their films online. Bleeding Cool has a great list of all the online content available - check it out.

In other news, our Open House is happening on the 1st of September. It's the perfect opportunity to meet our tutors, gab with the team, and have a drink on us. See you there?

We've Moved!

Over the years our office on 81 Berwick St has been compared to many things - a bunker, a submarine, a dungeon etc. And not without reason.

But now, after 18 years, Raindance is moving on, although not up. Yes, we've gone from a basement office to a crypt office. We are where the bones used to be, and skeletons in the closet are literal not figurative.

Still we're very excited, and although the move has been chaos (18 years and I don't think the cupboards were ever organised) we're looking forward to settling in. Do come by and say hello.

Short Film Competition - One Decade on from Sept 11th

Headlong Theatre company is inviting short film submissions in conjunction with their next production DECADE.

No-one can forget the moment they heard the news. September 11th, 2001 sent shockwaves across the globe. It was a day that was supposed to change the world forever. Ten years on, a team of major writers and thinkers explore our responses to the defining event of our times in DECADE, a new production from the creators of ENRON.

Writers announced include Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, Tony Award-winner John Logan, Simon Schama, and playwright and screenwriter AbiMorgan.

In conjunction with Headlong's theatre production, we are inviting filmmakers from all around the world to submit films of between 2 and 5 minutes length to respond to the question of what is the legacy of September 11th ten years on.  Filmmakers working across all genres of film are welcome; fiction, non-fiction, silent, documentary, video art - there are no limits on form or content.

The best films will be selected to be shown onwww.decadeheadlong.com and may be shown in the performance space alongside performances at St Katharine Docks between 1st September and 15th October.

Email submissions to decadefilm@headlongtheatre.co.uk no later than 12pm 1st September 2011.

Astonishing footage of the riots shot in Ealing. Editing and music give it a very cinematic. feel.

Web series can be hit and miss. And there's nothing more frustrating than one that peters out part way through.

But when they get it right, and the form informs the content, a web series can be a thing of greatness. These 8 are worth watching, and let us know if you've got any favourites.
