Greetings!
Want to meet hot filmmakers in your area? Come to our Boozin' N Schmoozin' on Monday (8th August) to have a chat and drink with loads of other indie filmmakers. Need some help on a project? Stand on the soapbox and introduce yourself to the crowd. Have you seen our new post-graduate course? We're pretty pleased with it, and we're taking applications until the 1st of September. If you're interested in a chat about it, drop by the Apollo Cinema on Sunday between 3pm and 6pm for a chat with Elliot and Carl (course leader). Please email postgraduate@raindance.co.uk to let us know you'll be coming. Want to jazz up your desktop? Check out our two wallpapers, created by our intern Raff - pretty cool, huh? All the best, James Burbidge Editor |

40 Second Straight Competition - Deadline Extended
|
| We're pleased to announce an extension of the competition deadline until 11pm on 10 August! The warm weather seems to have caused some slip in production schedules, and some filmmakers have been requesting a bit more time to complete their films. You now have two extra days to submit your short film for the chance to win a trip to Cannes! Visit www.raindance.tv/40secondsstraight to enter!
However, if you can tighten up your final edit, include the end title card on your entry, and upload it before 8 August, you will also be in for a chance to win a place on Elliot Grove's inspiring Lo-to-No Budget Filmmaking course.

Words from the wise
Carl Schoenfeld, Raindance Post Graduate Film Degree course leader explains how the new government white paper on higher education will allow arts and humanities students to develop into more independent, more aware and stronger learners than previous generations. We'll admit, this is a dense read - but worth it. What a white paper can for you

Every rejection is incremental payment on your dues that in some way will be translated back into your work. James Lee Burke
I could write an entertaining novel about rejection slips, but I fear it would be overly long. Louise Brown

3 Ways to reject rejection
|
|
Let the experts tell you how
We've been rejected a lot at Raindance, first by our parents (you have to be an foundling to work here), but more lately by all sorts of funding bodies and potential sponsors. What's important is to realise that it is simply part of the game. Rejection happens all the time, and you need to know how to deal with it. We'll show you how - 3 ways to reject rejection.
