Greetings!

James Burbidge 2The wind has whistled through a near empty office this week as everyone enjoys the dark screening cinemas and meeting rooms of the famous South of France.

They'll all be back to reality by next week though.

Meanwhile, life continues as usual here, and we've plenty going on. Like our Open House event next Tuesday for example. Meet the Raindance team (inc. the pale ones), meet our tutors and have a drink on us. Then have a chat with other like-minded souls.

Sounds like a lovely evening - will we see you there?

People are beginning to trickle back from Cannes, mostly dog-tired and 'schmoozed out.'

Still it seems to have been a successful festival with many fine films and plenty of talking points (though they've clearly never heard of Godwin's Law).

Reports trickling back from the market too are positive. Many sales agents have reported sell-outs and most agree that this is a positive sign for a strong industry.

Next week we'll be looking to have a Cannes review - so if you couldn't make it, but want to keep abreast, stay tuned.
My First Job in Film

There's a huge number of UK film and film-related companies, most of them looking for runners, interns and similar positions. There's also a large number of people looking to fill those positions. Until now, however, it has been hard to connect the two.

My First Job In Film will transform the new entrant recruitment.  It will become a one stop shop for the very best jobs available to applicants with little or no film experience.

Review: Win Win

Paul Giamatti seems to specialise in the downtrodden protagonist. And Tom McCarthy specialises in lovingly authentic indie dramas. Their combination (with an outstanding cast) for Win Win is right on the money.
