Greetings!

James Burbidge 2The office will be manned by only a skeleton crew for the next few days, as 60% have flown off to have fun in the sun of Cannes

This is always an exciting time of year - in the spotlight we'll see all the big indie players show their latest opuses (opi?) and in the market all the small deals that make the industry run get put into place.

If you're in Cannes this year we've got a survival guide just for you. And if you're not in Cannes, we've got all the trailers from the competition and 'un certain regard' films, so that you can feel like you're there. You can also take a virtual tour of the place.

And remember - if you want to show your film a little closer to home, well, there's only one place really to do that. Submit it to Raindance.

I hope you have a lovely week no matter where you are

Enjoy the article?
After ours, of course!

Once you've submitted to Raindance, you should work out the rest of your submission strategy.

Submissions cost money, and submitting for one festival can mean you can't submit at another. Timing is another issue that makes things difficult, particularly if you want to tour with your film.

That's why we've got a guide of the 100 Most Important Festivals, all organised by date.

A Screaming Man
A Screaming Man

A winner at last year's Cannes, A Screaming Man is the study of a man's unconscionable decision made during a time of war. Quiet, and masterfully directed, this is a fine example of arthouse cinema.

Cannes (of course)

Look at the film buyers and sellers in Cannes any year and you`re basically looking at a lot of shoe-salesmen working out whether it should be sneakers or lace-ups next year.
 - David Hemmings

Every time I`ve been to Cannes, I`ve made up my mind never to return. Every time my vanity wins over.
 - Alan Parker

My idea of hell. You see all the people you thought were dead and all the people who deserve to be dead. After a while, you start to think you might be dead, too.
