Greetings!

Xavier RashidThis week Xavier Rashid, our main festival man, is in Toulouse CineLatino and the Rencontres Cinemas d'Amerique Latine, which is one of Europe's most important stops for buyers to follow works in progress as part of the Cinéma en Construction programme.

Many are then flying directly over to Guadalajara for the next stop in the Latin calendar.

Xav's globetrotting is all in aid of making sure the festival is the best it can be. Make sure to get your film in contention by submitting it to us.

Best wishes,

What's going on in the office

Raindance, through Raindance Budapest, is proud to be a partner of the Titanic Film Festival - and to offer the wisdom of Elliot as the Jury President.

The BIFA nominated Sons of Cuba will be broadcast on BBC4 at 10pm on Wednesday, 30th March, entitled "Cuban Punch Up: The Boys who Fought for Castro".

This will be an edited version of the award winning documentary. More details.
WebTV - don't make a film, make a series!

MiShortsWebTV series are taking off in the US, both as a money-spinner (geddit?!) and a way of getting new ideas into mainstream TV and Hollywood. Some VoD sites like KoldCast have even stopped showing individual shorts to focus on them. MiShorts currently hosts two WebTV series and will be premiering a gripping new US Sci-Fi series in May, with more to follow.

To find out about this new type of low-budget filmmaking, follow these links to our latest newsletters.

Looking for an Executive Producer

Newly formed production company 'Parallel Dreams Productions' is embarking on their first feature film, "Albion", which is a modern, character based British, gangster comedy.

Both writer and director attached to the project are award winners, (some of their previous work can be seen here and here. They will be working together with a full crew fresh from their feature film shot last year. The film is scheduled to be shot on S16mm, and we already have access to heavy lights, Jib, dolly and tracks.

We are looking for anyone who wants to join us in this venture as an Executive Producer and contribute to the financing. For more information and/or to set up a meeting, please e-mail Iannis at:
iannisaliferis@yahoo.gr or call: 07853953323.

Director needed for Trailer

My name is Ron Sayadian and I'm a London-based screenwriter/producer.

I've written a big budget US spy thriller called The Melissa Tree - a powerful story about love, loss, terrorism, spies, Iran, nuclear weapons, hit men, redemption and the very future of the Middle East.

I want to produce a 3 minute trailer from the script which will be visible the film's website and can be used to market the film. I need to find a serious-minded young filmmaker who loves spy thrillers (ideally an american film school grad with a few shorts under their belt) who can make a film with limited money that will make the studio bosses in Los Angeles sit up and and pay attention.

On Planning

A lot of films need planning in order to survive at all. It's part of the dog and pony show.
-- John Turturro

Failing to plan is planning to fail.
-- Alan Lakein

Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing.
