Greetings!
Another great year at Raindance: the Festival keeps going from strength to strength and the British Independent Film Awards were another huge hit. The industry too is doing well as Brit-flick The King's Speech eyes up the Oscars and people like Gareth Edwards (who took our Lo-to-No Budget Filmmaking course) turn out huge films like Monsters.
I don't want to say that 2011 wil be easy, in fact we all know it will be hard. But with common sense, courage, and good old British savvy it could just be that the stars will line up for you in the next year. Take some deseved time off, recharge those batteries and remember if you book a course before January 4th you'll beat the VAT increase. Happy Christmas Elliot GroveFounder and Managing Director Raindance Film Festival / British Independent Film Awards |

Blog of the Week
No-one likes being lied to by marketing. Especially not these guys. They decided to do something about it and have created the excellent blog: If Movie Posters Told the Truth.
Things We Like Christopher Nolan's orginal map of Inception's dream-layers. Good luck deciphering it.
Also, WB are taking a closer look at pirating and instead of punishing, might be trying instead to convert offenders. Check it out.

Short Film of the Week
Looking for a little family time this holiday season? Take a break from frantic shopping and watch Dionysios Vossos' The Bus Ticket Story. A young man is heart-broken and dejected, when he stumbles on joy in an unlikely place. This film is a charming affirmation of the spirit behind the season. Watch it on Raindance.tv today. |
Review: Chatroom
Starring Aaron Johnson of Kick Ass fame, Chatroom is a dark and disturbing study of the (slightly outdated) world of online chatrooms. Released: 22/12/10

| It's Christmas. Be jolly. Name the film.
"Now I have a machine-gun. Ho Ho Ho." John McClane
"Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?" Clark
"Suppose I said that I could give you a chance to expunge the guilt, beneath which you so clearly labor. Suppose I gave you 'til Christmas. Now, suppose you tell me what it is I want from you." Captain Stanley

10 Incidental Christmas Films
|
|
No-one likes the schmaltzy Christmas films
...but sometimes the family insists that you put on something Christmassy. Well, hopefully this list will fit your needs. Put on a quality, (well, not awful) film, sit back and enjoy. When they complain that it wasn't about Christmas at all, casually recite the evidence we've provided you with. Feeling particularly unsnowy? As a bonus to the list we recommend Australian film The Proposition.
