Greetings!

James Burbidge 2We're launching our big Pepsi Max competition today, and those are some serious prizes. Make sure you get started quickly though - the deadline is in a month.

We're also offering a chance to win tickets to the preview screening of the controversial Raindance Festival entry 'A Serbian Film.'

This week's film news includes the announcement of an amazon development company (see the 'News' section) and a rumour that the BFI will be taking over the UKFC's fund distribution role.

Just a quick reminder too that if you're booking a course for 2011 do it before the beginning of January when VAT goes up to 20%. (Incidentally, there is office argument about whether it's the 1st or the 4th - anyone know?)

Have you got what it takes to create a film worthy of launching the Raindance Film Festival?
Here's your chance to prove it.
Raindance has teamed up with Pepsi Max to launch the Pepsi 'MAX IT' Film Competition

We are inviting you to create a short film about what 'max it' means to you and your mates.  The best film will be chosen by a panel of industry judges to launch the 2011 Raindance Film Festival.  Its creator will also win an amazing £30,000 production budget to create a film that will also screen at the festival, as well as a VIP trip for two to the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.

Films should be between one and two minutes in length and must adhere to rules which you can read here.  For more information and to enter your 'MAX IT' film, go to the raindance.tv website.  Submissions are open for just 4 weeks until Sunday 12th December!

We look forward to seeing how you 'MAX IT'!

It's always great to see films that screened at Raindance go on to do well and get picked up for distribution.

The Other Side of the Game, which screened under the Kodak New Talent banner this year is now gearing up for release - find out more.

Storage, which screened in 2009 is now available on DVD from amazon.

Speaking of amazon - it seems like they're going into production themselves. Like some giant filmmaking and screenwriting competition, they'll be open to all submissions and giving away prize money of $2.7 million a year. Find out more.

A Serbian Film - Q&A with Filmmakers

Thursday 25th November, the Prince Charles Cinema, 6.30pm

For those who didn't manage to catch the screening at the festival this year, here's your chance to see the most controversial film of the year ahead of it's theatrical release on December 10th, with the added value of having writer/director Srdjan Spasojevic and producer Nikola Pantelic present. Trust us, this really isn't one to miss.

To secure money for his family that will support them for the rest of their lives, Milos, a retired adult film star from Serbia, plunges once more into the depths of pornographic production only to find that his new mysterious and menacing employer has unthinkable terrors in store for him.

A Serbian Film

Tickets for the event can be bought here.

We have two tickets to give away if you're brave enough to take them.

To be in with a chance, email james@revolvergroup.com and write A Serbian Film in the subject line.

Homemade StarWars. Apparently cut together from fan's homemade Star Wars scenes, this is the full 1st movie made up of tinfoil, awful acting and crappy cgi. It's very funny

A breakdown of the script

Sorkin's script for The Social Network has been praised as the real star of the film - and it is indeed a technical masterpiece.

Not only is the dialogue snappy and smart (as expected) but the difficulty of writing from the memoir format is hidden in the complex structure.

But is it 100% successful? Screenwriting guru John Truby isn't so sure - find out why...
