Greetings!

James Burbidge 2Wow - what a festival, eh?

We had a lot of fun (and a few tense moments) putting together the 18th Festival and, if you came, we hope you had a great time.

A big thanks to our festival volunteers and benefactors whio made this a great year.

Now is festival debrief time for us: lots of meetings and lots of follow-up emails. We're already looking at how we can make next year's festival bigger and better than ever and we hope you'll be able to join us then.

Meanwhile we are gearing up for the next big event in the Raindance calendar - the British Independent Film Awards nominations on November 1st.

See you soon!

Competition: Write an Animated Film

Following the recent success of Night Music at the Raindance Film Festival, the IFT is launching a competition offering writers a rare opportunity to pitch their idea for another story involving the infamous Dr. Bird and his fellow Night Music cast mates.

The competition is open to everyone and invites applicants to write a one-page treatment of up to 500 words describing their new story. Six finalists will be chosen and asked to meet the filmmakers.
Should one of these six films tempt the panel enough, that film will go into production and the lucky winner will have the opportunity to work with the team intensively for a month writing, designing, producing and scoring their animation film.

For more details check out the Facebook page.

To register for the competition send an email now with your full name and 'Night Music Competition' as the subject to neil@independentfilmtrust.org.

The deadline for final applications is Monday 15th November.

At Raindance.tv we're slowly coming down from our festival high after the last week and a half of screening films, chatting with directors, and drinking copious amounts of wine at the Raindance Film Festival.

In addition to daily blogs and interviews, this year we again enabled individuals who could not attend the festival screenings to kick back in their own homes and watch a different film every night through our Online Film Festival.

A lot of people say the sitcom is dead. I think they're right to some extent, in that the shows they're putting out are all the same.

I thought The Office was good, though I didn't think of it as a sitcom, just as a very good programme.

The key to sitcom success is miserable people. If you see a happy couple, it's just gone, like when Sam and Diane got together on Cheers.
