Greetings!

Frederica ByronMy name is Frederica and some of you may know me from helping out on courses in London.

I look after Raindance's social media side, doing work on our Twitter and Facebook to make sure that everyone knows about the resources that Raindance provides for filmmakers.

I'm also responsible for the Raindance Premium Member's newsletter which goes out each month with lots of discounts, scripts and offers for Members.

One of the best things about my job is getting to meet lots and lots of new and upcoming filmmakers, both at the festival and at the Raindance courses.

As you'll see on our website we've got some great courses coming up including Direct Your First Feature taught by Simon Hunter. Simon's first feature film, Lighthouse, gathered critical acclaim and helped him raise Hollywood finance for his second feature!

Read on for some great articles, including TV Writer's Resources and Tutor Dave Cohen talking about whether comics should resign themselves to their gags being copied.

If you've got any questions about the courses we offer, e-mail us here or call us in the office on 0207 287 3833.

Working the Net

This week in 'Working the Net' we have someone looking for short film scripts:

I have just received funding for 5 short films, each will have a budget of 3k. We have just finished 2 and have a full crew in place and are looking for more people to be part of our team. What I am looking for now are some really well written short film scripts They can be any genre and if we like them we will turn them into a short film. All our films are shot on a Red One and are color graded and we have a great crew of 30 people and access to great actors. We really need to get in touch with talented like minded writers who want to get there films sent to festivals.

If they could submit to this link our company is called An Ice Production.

Copying another comedian's material is surely an outrageous act of theft, an understandable source of indignation and absolutely unforgiveable. Or is it just an inevitable and occasionally unintentional reality of a comedian's career?

Comedy writer and performer, Dave Cohen argues that theft of material shouldn't be taken quite so seriously.
