Greetings!
I'm Csilla and I have been interning for Raindance since March 2010. I am an MA 'Culture Industry' student at Goldsmiths and this is my minor placement here at Raindance. At the moment I work mostly on administrative and communication stuff but I also did some translation work for the amazing 'Surviving London' site of the Festival and helped out at different Raindance courses. Actually my main 'job' here is to understand how such a small grassroot film company works, what they do and how they do it.Raindance is a really nice place to get work experience especially because the people here are really passionate about what they do. Though my placement will finish soon I hope to get back for the Raindance Film Festival.Email me if you have any question about work experience at Raindance: novoszath.csilla@gmail.comCsilla NovoszathRaindance Intern |

9 tips to writing for low budget films
|
|
The script is the blueprint for the film. The script, therefore, is one of the most important factors in determining the budget of the film. Write an ensemble action film set in Monaco and, chances are, most producers are going to see that as a high budget script. If you're trying to break into the indie side of the industry, well that's not very helpful. Read our 9 tips to writing for low budget films and find out how your words can keep production costs down. Forward to a Friend

| Former Student Makes Good (Film)!
Hello,
I took Chris Thomas' Directors Foundation Certificate course in January/February 2009, and since then I've written and co-directed my first short film, called SHORT LEASE, which is funded by the North London Film Fund. I'm currently shopping it around to festivals, but in the meantime, here's the website with a teaser trailer and synopsis:

The course I took gave me the tools to make this happen. Thanks!
Best, Jennifer Eiss

Raindance.tv
This week, Raindance explores relationships--the bad with the good. In ' C'est Comme Ca', a film by Alexander Berberich, a condemned man reflects on failed relationships while smoking his last cigarette. Alternatively, Kasimir Burgess' ' Booth Story' portrays the beautiful connection made between a middle-aged booth tollman and his newly adopted 'son'--a duck named Albert.

Review:

How do you feel about remakes? Do you remember when Gus Van Sant re-shot 'Psycho', using (almost)
shot-by-shot reconstruction and colour stock? If not, you may have
repressed the memory. To remake a film, you're saying 'I can do
something better with this material', or, at least, 'I can do something
equally worthwhile, but different'. For this reason, classics are
usually considered untouchable. We're about to discover why. Read on... |
