Greetings!
Hey I'm Olivia,
I'm doing my work
experience at Raindance, and it's basically like being an intern here, but only
for a few days.
When I'm not accepting
the dozens of friend requests Raindance gets every hour on Facebook, I'm
watching ridiculously bad romantic comedies, and loving them!
Doing my work
experience at Raindance is sort of a dream come true, getting the sort of
contacts I want and hanging out with some pretty cool people. Any more
information you want about work experience at Raindance, don't hesitate to
e-mail me crescendolls64@hotmail.com (don't laugh, my brother made it for me).Olivia BorenRaindance Film Festival |

| The beat sheet is the key to nailing your script down; to transforming
the ideas that are up in your head, into action. A beat sheet helps you externalise conflict, sequence your action, balance your arguments and expose your theme. Properly written, a beat sheet is like a snake of dominos, one careening into the next,
the next into the one after that. If one domino fails to connect, the
circuit is broken and the tension is lost Nail the Beat Sheet, Nail the Script. |
The Art of the Beat Sheet - *NEW COURSE*
The beat sheet is the method that Hollywood professionals use to ensure
that the script they deliver lives up to the genius of their idea. Unlike a treatment, the beat sheet you write for yourself.
A well-written beat sheet leaves you free to write the script, clear
about where you're going. It can be hard, but it makes writing the script a
joy.

Story Design for Short Fiction Films
Short films are a tricky medium. Unlike features, a sequential story, which focus on a series of steps a story is
presumed to pass through as it unfolds, more often than not doesn't suit the short film. The present approach is based on
the view that short film storytelling can best be described in terms of
opposing properties that balance one another in a dynamic interplay.
Seven forms of interplay or balance will be proposed, each illustrated
by a short film which will be shown in its entirety. What? Story Design for Short Fiction FilmsWhen? Thursday 13 May, 6:30pm - 8:30pm Where? Apollo

| Raindance vs The Volcano
So, as some of you might be aware,
the Ejyakolfuliiujormunndjokli woke from it's slumber last week.
Unfortunately we had scheduled David Freeman to come over and teach two
classes which he was, of course, unable to make. We rescheduled Beyond
Structure but determined to at least land one blow on Mother Nature we
decided to plough on with The Secrets Behind Pixar's Magic
We
screen tested our Skype connection on Monday night and on Tuesday
evening Dave presented his course from LA through the power of the
internet and PowerPoint proxy Frederica. His big beaming face shone down from the silver screen and the evening was a great success.

British Villainy
Yesterday Dame Helen Mirren was reported to have said in Los Angeles "I
think it's rather unfortunate that the villain in every movie is always
British. We're such an easy target that they can comfortably make the
Brits the villains." Well, Course Director and sometime casting director Rory has a responseLike the article? Why not forward to a friend?

Blog of the Week
The Movie Blog Here you can enjoy
witty comments and reliable news about the who's and what's of film.
Things We Like The AV Club is
great for piercing interviews, shockingly witty critics, and the acknowledgment
of alternative, independent films.
Renounced The Streamy Awards, an
Internet based awards ceremony, was hosted a few weeks ago in Los Angeles.
Through multiple blogs and a few clips from the night, I was able to take that it was a total disaster.

Review: It's A Wonderful Afterlife

The important part first: this film is hilarious. ' It's A Wonderful Afterlife' tells the story of Mrs Sethi, who, in the process of finding a husband for her daughter, commits a series of murders. The spirits of the dead who come back end up helping her. True, the film doesn't say anything unique but the film is hilarious and has a great sense of style. |
