Greetings!
Hey, I'm Mike and I just started interning at the Raindance Film Festival and boy am I excited to introduce this weeks newsletter! When I'm not getting lost in the dark cavernous office of Raindance I like to enjoy hilariously bad movies such as: The Wicker Man, Crank 2 and almost anything with Arnold Swarzenegger. I'm a film student back in the States, probably going to move to LA after I graduate, tale as old as time, I know. But if that doesn't work out I could always be a rapper, it's already been said about my rapping that I'm fresh to death like a mint cemetery and that my raps kill laundry, knockin' socks off. But I digress, anyways enjoy this weeks newsletter and yeah, the whole rapper thing may not have been true, but the Crank 2 thing was! If you want to hear more about interning at Raindance or need a rapper/DJ for your next party email me at mike.ellis@raindance.co.uk. Mike Ellis Intern Raindance Film Festival |

Story Design in Short Fiction Films
This is a rare opportunity to study with one of the world's foremost
masters in the short film: Richard
Raskin. This one-off evening is your chance to learn some of the
most exciting theories about short film writing.
Richard proposes a non-formulaic model that can
be used as a set of guidelines during script development. Seven forms of interplay will be proposed, each illustrated
by a short film which will be shown in its entirety. The talk will be followed by informal drinks, an opportunity to find collaborators for your next project.

For 'The Outlaw Emmett Deemus,' a film produced, written, and acted in by Larry Hankin, life on the road is full of adventure. A leather-clad Don Quixote, he's prone to crazy adventures on the Western highway in his funky motorcycle and sidecar. In Stephen Szpak-Fleet's film, he falls in love with spitfire Aunt Dee, gets into trouble with the sheriff, and finds himself in a brawl with the locals. In Alex Ferrari's sequel, Deemus bravely rescues a beautiful porno princess from a badass gang of outlaw biker.

Review: What's in a review?

Our resident reviewer Jules Garnett explains his theory of the review and explains why he won't give a start rating "The task of determining the conventions of this section has caused me to
conduct much research into the wider world of reviewing. Now
I have to make some big decisions. Not just content, but format, ethos
and (to some degree) function are all at my control. These amount to a
powerful whole. I must use it wisely." Read on...
