Greetings!

Brittany KepkeI'm Brittany and I just started interning here at Raindance. What does an intern do you ask? Well my first week I addressed, stuffed, and stamped over 600 envelopes to send out to members of Raindance. Did I mention I had to carry them all to the post office as well?

It's not all fun and games here though. I mostly work with Raindance's Facebook page, which you should all check out, and helping with whatever else is needed around the office, be it writing for the Newsletter or helping with the Twitter account.

We just got this email talking about our Producer's Foundation Certificate.
Isn't it lovely?

"I graduated from a 3 year degree, specialising in writing and directing for digital film back in 2005. Those 3 years were great no doubt. It allowed me to learn the basics of my craft, practice it within the type of safe, collaborative environment university affords, and led me to the colleagues I now work closely with.

What it did not do however, was present me with any real-world knowledge about the movie business.

And that is where this course has excelled. Within these 5 weeks, I have garnered more knowledge about how to elevate the operation of my production company within the UK industry from shooting the simple indie features we have done to proper, commercially-viable movies with sound investment and packaging.

Truth be told, if all Raindance courses are like this, I would say more young filmmakers should either opt for film schools which offer you good career trajectory like the NFTS or LFS OR for a set of courses at Raindance.

University film degrees just don't cut it!"

Spring is in the air, and with it, a desire to embrace nature...which might explain why in Wilhelm Ogterop's 'Monday', Marvin Ape, half-monkey, half-man, craves whatever nature he can find within his gritty urban environment.

Another man takes things to the extreme by living in commune with nature (and growing an impressive beard) in Mathew Orzel and Heidi Brandenburg's 'Sonnemann'.

Seraphine

Artists sometimes seem to come out of nowhere. Regardless of formal training, moving in the right circles, or fitting in with the time period, new talent emerges. Such folk often work in isolation, and many are never discovered. Imagine one of these common brush-pushers suddenly exposed in front of you. This is exactly what happened to Wilhelm Uhde.

Exposition is tricky stuff - get it wrong and readers will turn away from your script in disgust as characters woodenly dump information that they obviously both already know onto the page.
