The Spectacular Crash of the Record Industry in the Digital Age

Even with the 20-20 vision of hindsight, the failure of the major record labels to grasp the implications of the internet seems extraordinary. As Rolling Stone contributing editor Steve Knopper explains in this pacey account of corporate greed and myopia, they certainly had enough warning.

"If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed - and shown at the Raindance Film Festival"
Stanley Kubrick... OK, I added the last bit.

"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching , of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever...it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything." Aaron Siskind
Many people forget everything after a festival party at Raindance; but be careful, someone's probably filming.

"A good film is when the price of the dinner, the theatre admission and the babysitter were worth it"
Alfred Hitchcock    Raindance, because we're worth it.

"There just isn't the material in the big-budget films. They're just trying to stamp it out to reach the broadest audience and make the most money. Passion is gone."
Nick Nolte  Find the passion again at Raindance.

"A film is just like a muffin. You make it. You put it on the table. One person might say, "Oh, I don't like it." One might say it's the best muffin ever made. One might say it's an awful muffin. It's hard for me to say. It's for me to make the muffin."
Denzel Washington  Come and give our muffins a try, you might like some.

Marco Bolognesi and Bomar Edition will be embarking on a series of new film projects, encompassing genres such as sci-fi, horror, western and animation. There will be 6 short films made culminating in a feature film at the end. We will in this process be working with Renderyard film social forum in order to take part in an online artist residency. We plan to finally distribute the film internationally.

The studio is in search of people to collaborate with in order to create a visual narrative and sound for the short films, and possibly a feature film in the new year.

We are looking for writers, animators, special effect, digital colourist, editors, model maker, sound engineers, after effect artist and a producer to work in order to prepare 6 15 minute short films, and potentially for the feature film to be made early next year.

Please send examples of your work and a CV to Aylin Kunter at info@bomaredition.co.uk or call 0207 998 1655 for more information.

Thumbs Up

Film festivals is where filmmakers go to get their films 'discovered' ie: sold.

One of the most important festivals in the world wrapped last weekend in Toronto.

With nearly a third of the films on offer in Toronto coming from the European continent, the Festival is a very important launching pad for both established and emerging talents to make an impression in North America. That is why the support of the European Film Promotion organization, a conglomeration of the governmental promotion offices from across the continent, is so vital to bring recognition and visibility in a very crowded festival field.

This is the sort of information discussed by Raindance founder Elliot Grove in his intensive weekend masterclass - Lo-To-No Budget Filmmaking.
