What about Spam-Ku?
The latest trend?

When a man loves Spam as much as much as Roy, the poet protagonist of Spam-Ku, he kind of deserves whatever he
gets. His haiku about Spam is so good he wins a lifetime supply of the stuff. Perhaps now this self described "non-winner" can gain the affections
of Nancy, his office crush. Or maybe his life will turn horribly and disgustingly upside down.

Quoted Quoted

'Acting is like playing, while directing is really fun, sort of like an orgy'
RACHEL GRIFFITHS: Actress (Six Feet Under) and director of two shorts - who obviously needs to direct more as I think we all want to work on that set.

'Anybody can direct a picture once they know the fundamentals. Directing is not a mystery, it's not an art. The main thing about directing is: photograph the people's eyes'
JOHN FORD: Four time oscar winner. Better get the fundamentals on a Raindance filmmaking course then!

'Directing is too hard, it takes too much time, and it doesn't pay very well'
HARRISON FORD: Who obviously needs to work with Rachel Griffiths.

'I'd grab a camera and tell people what to do, and when I was 14 someone told me that it was called directing'
GUILLERMO DEL TORO: Who has the Raindance filmmaking spirit.

Dear Raindance members, I am Edgar and I live in Haarlem, the Netherlands. I work as a marketing assistant at a film distribution company in Amsterdam (Paradiso Films). I'm going to London to get a Film Director's Diploma at the Raindance Film Lab. The first workshop starts September 15th and the last will be at the 12th of December. I'm still looking for a room to rent during that period. I will fly to London on the 8th of September and would very much like to make an appointment to have a look at accommodations.

If you have a place to rent, or know anyone who has, please email me.
Best regards, Edgar Daarnhouwer

Virtual Strangers are a group of international musicians who create eclectic original music. Can you afford to miss this one?

Most writers have no idea that they're using blunt, simplistic story tools that make it impossible for them to write a great script. They follow the old 3-act structure rules found in all the screenwriting books and when the script fails they think it's their fault.

Stop blaming yourself.
Those techniques will never work. Why? Because they're not professional.

In just three weeks, Raindance is giving you the opportunity to learn the most powerful tool for professional storytelling anywhere in the world, John Truby's 22 Steps of Every Great Script.

Amnesia: Peter Watkins

With docudramas and documentary re-constructions becoming increasingly popular in mainstream cinema ('Touching the Void', 'Waltz With Bashir' and the seamless reconstructions in 'Man on Wire' being three extremely different examples) it is worth looking back at one of the pioneers of this form of filmmaking.

Peter Watkins began work with the BBC in the early 60s and in 1964 produced his first full-length TV film 'Culloden', portraying the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745 as reported live by a news crew. The handheld camerawork on a confused battlefield covered the fact that both sides were portrayed by about a dozen people. The result won awards and lead to the commission of another film for the BBC, 'The War Game'.

The resulting film, depicting the impact of a nuclear attack on Britain, was officially deemed too horrifying for broadcast, although Watkins resigned from the BBC on discovering that the film was being shown to the British Cabinet for consultation. The BBC continued to refuse to show the film despite critic Kenneth Tynan's declaration that it might be "the most important film ever made", and the fact that the film won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 1987. The film was finally broadcast in 1985.

Watkins himself left the UK and continued to produce films in Sweden ('The Gladiators'), USA ('Punishment Park'), Norway ('Edvard Munch') and France ('La Commune') and lived and worked in Lithuania for many years. He continues to speak out against the general situation in the media through his website

His style has continued to influence the genre over the years and 'Culloden' and 'The War Game' will form templates for docudrama for many years to come.
