CORE VALUES & DEFINITIONS | THE MASTERY COMPANY

We are articulating The Mastery Company's core values. First, you'll read our definition of the core value which is followed by one of Dr. Cooper's internal emails about the core value.

These core values are where we come from. They are what we base our decisions on. These values frame how we relate to our clients, our vendors, and ourselves. They form our culture and shape our relationships and our work with clients. These core values are 'who' we are.

COMMITMENT

The Mastery Company sees commitment as the headwater of effective action. Commitment is a direct expression of responsibility. Commitments are expressed as promises and requests. Commitments embody integrity, intention and drive to produce a declared future outcome.

At The Mastery Company we're committed to our client's success. Our work with clients is based on them making, and then fulfilling, their commitments. Our agreement with each and every client is that they allow us to hold them to account to deliver for their commitments. Our request of clients is that they hold us to account to keep our commitments as well.

ON COMMITMENT (From Marc Cooper E-mail)

We know that commitment is the engine that drives effective action. Our challenge is to guide clients to make and keep their commitments. To do this they must be bigger than their circumstances, bigger than their fear, bigger than they have been before.

What that will take for us is being committed to their commitments. In our work we call it a "committed listener," someone you give full permission to hold you to account for your promises. And the committed listener listens from the point of view, "Can I promise his or her promise. Can I take what he or she says to the bank?"

If we can't promise their promise we need to work with them until we can.

We also need to set up a feedback loop with a by-when. That's what our coaching calls are about. Making sure they do what they promise. And if they don't, to work with them to remake a legitimate promise that will forward the action.

At The Mastery Company, commitment is simple; give your word and keep it and when you can't, be responsible.

CREATING A NEW CONTEXT FOR PERIODONTIST

April 14-16, 2011

The purpose of this conference is to generate a new context, a new paradigm for what it means to be a periodontist in periodontal practice, creating a breakthrough for how periodontists are perceived, how they practice, and how they are regarded and rewarded.
