Issue Brief: Trapping/Hunting/Fishing/Conservation - General

Summary: Memorializes Congress to encourage the National Marine Fisheries Service, the Gulf of Mexico Marine Fisheries Council, and the Gulf of Mexico Fisheries Management Council to adopt a weekend-only fishery for the 2012 red snapper season.

Status: Passed House and Senate.

 

New Hampshire SB 297 

Intro Date: 1/1/2012

Sponsor: Senator Nancy Stiles

Issue Brief: Apprentice Hunting License; Recruitment

Summary: Relative to the apprentice hunting license. This bill makes certain hunters with bows eligible for an apprentice hunting license.

Status: On May 9, House Ought to Pass: MA VV.

California AB 2179 

Intro Date: 2/23/2012

Issue Brief: Trapping/Hunting/Fishing/Conservation - General

Summary: Eliminates the prohibition that the Fish and Game Commission not revoke or suspend any license or permit until specified regulations have been adopted and approved. Eliminates the provision that any deliberation conducted by the commission, or conducted by any person appointed by the commission to conduct a hearing, is required to be conducted pursuant to the law governing administrative adjudication. Permits the imposition of administrative civil penalties or license revocation for violations.

Status: Hearing held on May 16 by Assembly Appropriations Committee.

 

New Hampshire SB 224   Intro Date: 1/1/2012

Sponsor: Senator Bob Odell

Issue Brief: Lead Sinker Ban

Summary: Relative to lead fishing sinkers and jigs. This bill amends the definitions of "lead sinker" and "lead jig" for the purpose of the sale or use of lead sinkers and lead jigs.

Status: On May 9,House referred to interim study: MA VV.
