Shir Libeynu Is Coming Out to Pride!

This year, for the first time, Shir Libeynu will have a table at Pride Toronto's Community Fair on Saturday June 30th and Sunday July 1st. Even now, in 2012, many people are still searching for a place to belong as queer Jews. We want to make sure that the LGBTQ community and their supporters and loved ones know about our welcoming and inclusive congregation.

Come out, say hello and shmooze with us, at Booth # 23, near Gloucester and Church. Look for our green-and-white striped awning. We will be there from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. See you at PRIDE Toronto.

Shir Libeynu in the News

On May 30th, the Canadian Jewish News published an article about Shir Libeynu by Sheri Shefa, which included an interview with Aviva Goldberg about the upcoming June 2nd Pride service, an annual event.  Here's a link to it:

Wolfman

Unveiling of Oscar Wolfman's Tombstone

The unveiling ceremony for Oscar Wolfman will be held on Sunday, July 8th at 11:00 a.m. sharp at the Pardes Chaim Cemetery, 11818 Bathurst Street, Vaughan (905-884-1888), two miles north of Teston Road/Elgin Mills Road.

All are welcome at the reception afterward, whether able to attend the unveiling or not. It will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the home of Oscar's spouse, Rob Monro (97 Leslie Street in the Leslie and Queen St. E. area. 416-462-0411).

If you would like to attend the unveiling but do not have transportation, or if you plan to attend and have room in your vehicle for an extra passenger or two, kindly write to us at [email protected] by Wednesday, July 4th. Although we cannot guarantee success, we will try to match up those in need of a lift with a driver.

HearttoHeart

HEART TO HEART: A SUMMER MITZVAH PROJECT

Bringing 20 Arab-Israeli and Jewish-Israeli youth to a three-week co-existence program at Camp Shomria, in Perth, Ontario, this program fosters the growth of lifelong friendships and creates an open and honest dialogue about the conflict in Israel. There are many ways to get involved, including sponsoring an activity, hosting participants at your homes while they are in Toronto between July 25th to 29th or making a donation to the program. Please contact Dalia Krusner, Program Coordinator at [email protected] for more information.
