Did You Know! Southwestern was recently recognized by the National Jurist as one of the Top 20 Law Schools for Externship Opportunities.
Southwestern's Externship Program serves to enhance the more traditional casebook method of legal instruction by providing students with an opportunity to directly experience the attorney's role through a variety of on-site placements. Last year Southwestern had over 400 students participating in the Externship Program.
So you didn't know Southwestern has a mascot!? Did you know Southwestern used to have a football team and a girls golf club? Many alums are unaware that Southwestern once had athletic teams and a mascot. The law school's mascot, the Bison, came and went during Southwestern's 100 years. From the first student-run paper to Southwestern's 'spirit week' somehow the Bison was resurrected every decade or so. When the time came to decide on a title for the new alumni newsletter, the Alumni Association Board of Directors chose to continue Southwestern's Bison tradition by calling it the Bison Brief. As a Siderman Fellow pursuing an LL.M. degree, he admires the devotion of his Southwestern professors and the opportunity to delve deeply into the subjects of immigration and Asylum law.
