Dr. Judy Genshaft serves as USF System President and President of USF, one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive metropolitan research universities. As Chief Executive Officer of the USF System, she oversees a system serving more than 47,000 students at two institutions, including a major academic medical center, and two regional campuses. Dr. Genshaft is responsible for the management of all units of the USF System and a $1.8 billion operating budget that includes $380.4 million in sponsored research funding, Join us to learn about the tremendous impact USF has on the Tampa Bay area.

Feasibility Study for Indoor Amateur Sports Facility
A coalition of the Hillsborough County Hotel and Motel Association, the Westshore Alliance, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and the Tampa Sports Authority has executed a contract with Crossroads Consulting Services to conduct a study to determine the feasibility of locating an indoor amateur sports facility in Westshore. A private donor has come forward and expressed a willingness to underwrite a significant portion of the cost associated with the construction of the facility. Preliminary results should be available in early August.

Westshore Master Plan Update
Work is progressing rapidly on the Westshore Master Plan. At our last Master Plan Committee meeting, our consultant presented his initial findings and solicited much needed input from more than 40 Alliance members and local agency officials. You can view a copy of the meeting presentation, exhibits and summary of feedback at our website. The plan will be complete early next year and will identify specific improvements to streets, sidewalks, parks, etc. that will foster new private-sector investment and create opportunities for economic development throughout Westshore. Be the Face of Tampa Bay. Volunteer for the Republican National Convention. The 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee needs thousands of volunteers to be the faces of Tampa Bay during the week of the 2012 Republican National Convention. They have a particular need for volunteers to staff information tables. Volunteers will welcome guests at local airports and hotels throughout the area, as well as support Host Committee programs and a variety of events during the year leading up to the convention. Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant will open its first Florida location at MetWest International in early 2013. The restaurant and winery signed a lease for 11,229 square feet at the mixed-use development located on Boy Scout Blvd.
Travelers Indemnity Company recently signed a lease for 86,523 square feet at Tampa Commons (located at N. Dale Mabry & Kennedy Blvd.). Travelers is consolidating three local offices and plans to occupy the space by June 2013. Tampa Commons is now 95% leased.
Inovalon, Inc. has leased 6,431 square feet of space in Tower Place (1511 N. West Shore Blvd.). The office will house a new multilingual communications center. The company, based in Bowie, Md., provides data analysis of health care treatment methods, their clinical results, their costs and their potential cost savings, mostly for insurers and public and private managed care entities. They have not previously had a presence in Tampa.
Groundbreaking for the area's first Container Store, which will be located at the southwest corner of West Shore Blvd. & Spruce Street, took place on June 20.
The site will also house a new branch for BankUnited.
