We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Susan MacManus, Distinguished University Professor of Public Administration and Political Science in the Department of Government and International Affairs at the University of South Florida as our guest speaker at our membership luncheon on Tuesday, January 24 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Tampa Westshore, 4500 W. Cypress Street. Dr. MacManus is an expert on Florida politics and will share the reasons that Florida is so important to the presidential race in 2012. Alliance announces new BOD leadership
At the December meeting, the Westshore Alliance Board of Directors approved several new appointments. Enrique Woodroffe of Woodroffe Corporation Architects was elected Secretary, Julie Harris from Grow Financial and Ron Alicandro of the Westin Tampa Bay were appointed to the Executive Committee and Nancy Ziel from Moffitt Cancer Center at International Plaza was appointed to the board. TD Ameritrade has relocated their office in Westshore. They have leased 5,000-square-feet on the first floor of the Synovus Bank Building at TriPointe Plaza, 4488 Boy Scout Boulevard.
Florida Orthopaedic Institute will open their newest location at 909 N. North Dale Mabry Highway on February 6. The 27,500 sf facility will include x-ray, MRI, clinical offices and facilities for physical and occupational therapy.
MCRT Investments will start construction of Legacy Westshore, a 300 unit apartment complex on a 3.3 acre site on Spruce Street, between Trask and Hesperides in Spring 2012. The project will take 20 to 22 months to complete with the first units available for occupancy approximately 14 months after construction start.
Tampa City Council recently approved the rezoning application for the parcel at the southwest corner of Boy Scout and Westshore Blvds. Saber Real Estate Advisors will begin construction on a multi-building 40,000 square foot retail development in spring of this year. Confirmed tenants include Bank United and the Tampa Bay area's first Container Store.
Mojito, a Latin restaurant and lounge, is now open at the Crowne Plaza Tampa Westshore, 5303 W. Kennedy Blvd.
