25 Most Popular US Attractions in 2011

Our Most Popular Kissimmee Resorts

Vista Cay - some of our Most Popular units

Destination America Travel Partners

LogoWelcome to this week's newsletter!

This week we take a look at the New Fantasyland project at Disney World and we have a feature in this newsletter. Then we thought some of you might be interested in knowing what were the top visitor attractions in the US for 2011, and no it's not Disney World!  Be warned - viewing some of these websites might well give you itchy feet but go ahead! No new Property rates are in this time round for 2012 so we are still waiting for The Fountains Resort on I-Drive and we still don't know whether we are going to be able to offer 2 Beds at The Point Orlando Resort - we are on the case as they say. NB: When our new online bookable website is up and running we will be able to feature many new self-catering properties in Orlando and the rest of Florida plus other key locations in the USA.  Finally our most popular Kissimmee and Vista Cay units - a regular.

DisneyNew Fantasyland at Disney World

So, did you know that an amazing NEW Fantasyland is underway and sadly some of the favourites are going! Here is a birds eye view of the vastly-expanded Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World which will offer visitors a new land of enchantment in a magical fairy tale forest just beyond the castle walls:
New Disney World Fantasyland
The sweeping facelift for the Fantasyland section of the Magic Kingdom is what the resort calls the biggest overhaul in the theme park's 38-year history.

Plans just revealed call for adding a lavish ride based on The Little Mermaid, an enclosed ridge that will carry guests through Ariel's underwater realm using an Omnimover ride system similar to that of the Haunted Mansion, and will move through scenes featuring characters and songs from the 1989 movie.

The vast majority of the Fantasyland overhaul will focus on Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and others in the company's table of animated heroines, including expanding the ever popular Dumbo children's attraction, new interactive area's featuring some of Disney's best-known princesses, and much more.

But what more? Disney is constructing individual areas - be it a castle, cottage or chateau - where guests can interact with some of the company's best-known princesses and other characters from their movies. Children will be able to dance with Cinderella, celebrate Aurora's birthday with the Good Fairies, or play a role with Belle in a performance in the library of the Beast's castle.

Beyond princesses, the plans call for doubling the size of and relocating Dumbo the Flying Elephant to a new "circus grounds" that will include an interactive queue under a big-top tent to entertain children waiting in line. Disney will add a new Pixie Hollow character-greeting area, home to Tinker Bell and other fairies.

To accommodate the expansion Disney will raze most of Mickey's Toontown Fair - the smallest of the Magic Kingdom lands, and Snow White's Scary Ride is also being disgarded.

A new indoor mine train style roller coaster has been announced, which the park is calling now "Seven Dwarfs Mine Train." This will take guests deep into a diamond mine, while playing the famous music from the movie for guests to enjoy while on the ride. The vehicles will actually swing back and forth on the twisting track throughout this unique ride. This will be a first of its kind as it has not been seen on any roller coaster built before.

Mickey and Minnie get new homes near the park's front entrance. The children's roller coaster, the Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm stays and will be re-themed, likely with a circus overlay linking it to Dumbo.

The first phase of the Fantasyland expansion, including the Mermaid ride and the princess areas, is scheduled to open in 2012. Pixie Hollow will follow in 2013.

We will keep an eye on progress and maybe you will be thinking about planning a trip some time soon!
