Do you have a reluctant reader?  Is your voracious reader running out of good books at home and at our school library?  Does your child fit somewhere in between?  The Main Branch of the York County Public Library in Rock Hill has a fantastic new program for kids ages 9-12!  It's called Fiction Frenzy and is like a book club, but with NO required reading!  It will be held the 2nd Thursday of every month in the Children's Activity Room from 4:30-5:30pm.  The first meeting will be on January 12.   Children will play word games, hear booktalks from the Children's Librarian, Amy McMichael, and have an opportunity to rate books that they've already read!  For more details, visit the York County Public Library website or contact Amy McMichael.

Spirit Nights - Thanks for everyone who has come out to support RDES at Spirit Nights.  Our first Spirit Night of 2012 will be at Fuel Pizza THIS Thursday, January 12 from 5 - 9pm.  Remember to visit our website here to print off your voucher.

Student Holidays--Remember that we will have a Teacher Workday THIS Monday, January 9 and the Martin Luther King Holiday will be Monday, January 16.  

MAP Testing beginsTHIS Tuesday and runs through January 28.  Please check this link for the MAP Testing Schedule for your child.

School of Choice--If you have friends who who do not live in the RD zone who are interested in attending our school, invite them to come to our School of Choice open houses which will be January 23 and February 2 from 6:00-7:30 PM.  Parents are always invited to come and take a tour of the school as well.  All they have to do is contact the office at 981-1930 or email Sally Tucker at stucker@rhmail.org.
