SOCCER SAFETY TIPS FROM AYSA AS WE ENTER A
NEW SEASON:
AYSA would like to provide a few reminders to all soccer players, parents and to anyone attending the fields for practices or games:
SOCCER GOAL SAFETY:
Soccer goal safety is one of the main concerns for US Youth Soccer and AYSA. Please remember:
a. Never start a practice or game without inspecting goals; don't rely on someone else to keep your players safe. If a goal is not property anchored, do not allow players in the goal area. Notify proper officials immediately.
b. If you are a club administrator, check the condition of your goals regularly and make sure that if they are not in use, they are chained to a fence, chained to each other or put in a secure area.
Here is an article from KWIKGOAL regarding safety around goals. Please review this, especially if you have young children.
HYDRATION:
It's hot! Arizona is a desert state. It's going to remain hot into the start of most of our soccer seasons. Adequate hydration is vital to your players health and well-being. Make sure that players are instructed to hydrate before, during and after a practice or game. Remember that your players may start the season slightly out of shape. Take this into consideration and provide frequent water breaks -- and make sure that your players use them to hydrate.
US Soccer has released a document regarding proper hydration for soccer players. Please review this document as it has numerous tips for the proper methods to do so.
This is the intial Safety Tip section of the monthy
e-newsletter. Future newsletters will highlight and define additional topics as warranted.
