SYDNEY LEROUX - ARIZONA OLYMPIAN:
This month, AYSA would like to recognize former Sereno Soccer Club & SC del Sol Soccer Club player and current member of the United States Olympic Women's Soccer team Sydney Leroux.
Leroux played for the Sereno '90 Girls White team which won the Arizona State Cup Championships in both 2007 (U-17) & 2008 (U-18) coached by Les Armstrong. She then played on the SC del Sol '90 team which won the U-19 Arizona State Cup in 2009 to cap off her youth soccer career. She is a graduate of Horizon High School in north Phoenix. Following high school, Sydney moved on to a stellar four-year career at UCLA earning numerous team and national awards throughout her time with the Bruins.
In addition to competing at UCLA, Sydney burst onto the United States Women's National Team scene in 2008 at the U-20 Women's World Cup in Chile by netting five goals en-route to a World Cup victory for the US. Two years later (2010) in the CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championships, Leroux scored the winning goal in the Championship game vs. Mexico. In the history of the US Women's U-20 team, Leroux is the leading scorer and most capped player.
