Social Security Matters

Summer 2011

Rob Wendt is making headlines...

Rob Wendt, courtesy of the Post and CourierIt's been an exciting spring, and we're pleased to share that Rob Wendt was recently selected as one of South Carolina Lawyers Weekly 2011 Leadership in Law honorees. He was one of 15 in the state and one of only three in the Lowcountry area to receive the honor. Rob also was profiled recently by the Charleston Post & Courier in their High Profile section. As this front page feature notes, the South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Leadership in Law award recognizes excellence in the legal community and spotlights those who selflessly dedicate time and energy to their profession.

"Our overriding goal is to assist people dealing with disabilities and the challenges that come about as a result. Our greatest satisfaction comes from helping someone to obtain the assistance they need. It's always nice when others recognize the work we're doing as well," said Rob.

As further evidence of this recognition, Rob believes in working to improve his profession. He is frequently recruited for speaking engagements within the legal community, and recently taught an estate planning class on Social Security disability at the Charleston School of Law.  He's also scheduled to teach a CLE course to his peers during the S.C. Association for Justice 2011 Annual Convention at Hilton Head on August 4, 2011.

What is board certification and why does it matter?

Did you know there is a national certification process for attorneys who specialize in Social Security disability?  Although any attorney can represent you in a Social Security disability claim, engaging an attorney who has been certified by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification (NBLSC) is a wise and economically sound decision.

Board certified attorneys are put through a rigorous process to verify their credentials, skills, and experience in a specific area of the law.  Just as you'd like to know that the surgeon about to operate on you is a credentialed, board certified and well trained specialist, your legal counsel should be equally qualified in a specific legal practice area. With so much at stake for you and your family, why would you hire anyone other than a board certified disability specialist to handle your Social Security claim?

R
ob Wendt is one of only two board certified Social Security disability specialists in the state of South Carolina, and one of just 59 in the country certified by the NBLSC, the certifying organization accredited by the American Bar Association and approved by the S.C. Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Legal Specialization.

Having focused on disability benefits law for many years, and with professionals on staff who have worked on disability issues for the Social Security Administration, the team at the Law Offices of Robertson Wendt understands the intricacies of the law and the federal bureaucracy governing the Social Security disability process.

Regardless of whom you choose to assist you, just be sure you're working with a qualified attorney who has significant experience with your types of issues. It can make the difference in winning and losing... and doing it right the first time.
