Hello Faculty,

 

This will be the last newsletter I send out until August, I hope that you found it useful and informative. If there is anything that you feel would improve the newsletter please let me know. I enjoyed working with all of you this past year and I look forward to doing so again in the fall. I will be around all summer so if you think of any films that you would like to use in a future class, feel free to contact me so I can have it added to the collection before the fall semester.

Offers an in-depth look at martial arts films, particularly Hong Kong's wu xia film legacy and its influence on global cinema. From its roots in Beijing Opera to Quentin Tarantino's tribute Kill Bill, Vol. 2, this film presents the development of the genre, insight into the techniques, weaponry and well-known stars of Hong Kong martial arts action. The Hong Kong technique of editing-in-camera is demonstrated in a multi-screen sequence, and there are numerous clips from the genre's classic films.
