February 2012

I can report to the department that as of January 27, 2012 the Philosophy department's acquisitions fund has an available balance of just over $580. I'll be asking Matt Kisner to have all remaining request for the 2011-12 fiscal year to me by March 15, 2012. The most recent acquisition is this issue's featured book, The History of Continental Philosophy, 8 vols (U Chicago, 2010). The number of scholarly monographs in e-book format continues to grow. If you haven't had a chance to try reading an e-book try checking out one of the Thomas Cooper's new iPads and see how it feels.   As always, if you have any suggestions I am a call or email away.

ILL offers new online feature

Have you ever thought that a book you requested through ILL would make a good addition to our library collection?books  Now USC faculty who ask to borrow a book or other item from another institution through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) have the option to request that the item be purchased and added to the Libraries' collection.  Find out how easy it is to request a purchase.

Are you getting the most out of My Account

"My Account"?

All faculty members have access to the library through "My Account". "My Account" allows you to:

1) view and renew checked out materials

2) save "preferred searches" in the catalog and receive alerts when new materials are added that match your search

3) keep a record of the materials you have borrowed (optional).

You can do all of this without coming into the library! "My Account" is linked on the library's homepage and within the library's Catalog.  Click here for help topics on using "My Account."
