Issue No. 2
October 2010
"The Advisor"
Greetings!

This month we are celebrating Independence.  This is a celebration honoring those who have fought and those who still fight for their lives and their loved ones.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we want to show our gratitude for all those seeking to be free of this disease.

Independence is something we begin to seek from an early age. Independence means freedom and freedom means choice.  When we can make our own choices in our lives, we begin to live life a little fuller.  Choosing an Independent Agent to handle all your insurance needs, gives you the freedom to stop worrying about price, coverage or service and more time to live your life...fully.

During October, wear Pink proudly.  Those who are fighting for a cure will notice!

Sincerely,

Prodigy Insurance Group, LLC

Benefits of Having An Independent Insurance Agent

Have you heard the term Independent Insurance Agent before and weren't quite sure what that meant?  When shopping for insurance, most people are unaware that there are different kinds of agents they can work with. Choosing the right one can make a big difference in securing the best combination of price and value.

The two main types of agents are either independent or captive.  A captive agent gives you the guidance of one company that sells one brand of insurance. With an independent agent, your insurance can be shopped through many nationally recognized carriers.  The independent agent will compare coverage and prices to find the best possible value for your individual circumstances. Independent agents are usually vested members of your community who are committed to doing business face-to-face and being your advocate in times of need.

Along with rate comparisons, independent agents also:
-  Work for you when you have a claim.
-  Are not beholden to any one company. You don't have to change agencies when you change carriers as your insurance and service needs change.
-  Are your consultants, working with you as you determine your needs.
-  Are value-hunters who look after your pocketbook in finding the best combination of price, coverage, and service.
-  Offer one-stop shopping for a full range of products, including home, renters, auto, business, life, health, and retirement plans.
-  Can review your coverage yearly to keep up with your changing insurance needs.
-  Are committed to customer satisfaction-it's the key to their livelihood
-  Treat you like a person, not a number.
-  Are licensed professionals with strong customer and community ties.

The benefits of having an independent agent are numerous, Prodigy Insurance Group is here to meet your needs today and in the future.  To find out more about us click here.

Carrie Brinsden

Breast cancer has been a part of Carrie Brinsden and her family's lives for the past 18 years.  Carrie Brinsden in a longtime Kingwood resident, an A&M graduate and Chairwoman for the Humble ISD Education Foundation.   Her oldest sister Mary was first diagnosed when she was 34. After a full mastectomy and 2 years of chemotherapy and radiation, Mary was given an all clear status.  Then after 12 years of being cancer free, Mary's cancer returned with a vengeance.  She was diagnosed in the Fall of 2003 with Stage 4 breast cancer.   She fought valiantly but lost her battle in June of 2007.

Throughout her journey Mary never complained.  While she was unable to conceive children of her own, she was lovingly blessed with 23 nieces and nephews and today there is a huge hole in their heart from the loss of Aunt Mary.

Carrie now participates in the Susan G. Komen race every October in honor of her sister Mary.  "I walk for all sisters so that they may never have to know what life is like without one another.  I walk for all nieces and nephews so they won't have to feel the pain of losing a loving aunt.  I walk for all husbands so they don't have to carry on life's path alone.  I walk for all mothers and fathers so they don't have to feel the excruciating pain of losing a child.  I walk for all of those battling this illness so they may have the opportunity to live life to the fullest extent.  I walk for the cure."

For Carrie, this is more than just walking for her sister, it is also about finding a cure.  Carrie has been on the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure "Pink Honor Roll" for the past 3 years.  This group represents the top 100 individual fundraisers for the Houston race.  She was number 10 in 2008 and number 35 in 2009, and this year she is number 18.  So on October 2, when thousands of women take to the streets of downtown to walk for a cure, Carrie will join them.  Join her in this important fight for a cure.  All this month you can give to the fight and help Carrie and others raise money to beat this disease.  Visit Carrie's website to learn more and donate directly to her.  You can also visit Susan G. Komen to find out more.
