Greetings!

We hope everyone had a safe, enjoyable 4th of July!  This month is typically the start to the "heat" of the season, BUT we have been up in the 100's already! PLEASE keep ALL pets (indoor and outdoor) on your daily check for water and shade. It doesn't take long for our furry coated family members to get overheated.

Continue to have a cool summer and keep sending us pics of your pets having fun in the sun or doing what they do best....being cute! Don't forget to check us out on

Facebook  too!

Have You Ever Seen One Of These ?

Breed Of The Month: Chinese Crested

This breed first showed up around the 1800's and was used in Chinese sailing ships to hunt vermin! They are great companion animals and bond easily with their human owner. Chinese Crested can be proned to getting skin conditions easier and they have to be watched  for sunburns as well. Having little or no coat, they are considered a breed that would fit well in a home where humans suffer from allergies.

Pet Dander Dilemmas

Hypoallergenic Breeds

Pet Allergies

The Austin and surrounding region is widely known as a high allergy area. It may even be worse for some pet lovers out there that are affected by the dander their pet's coat gives off. For those that have to deal with allergies and want a pet, but are reluctant to adopt, here's some information on breeds that may be possible for your home! There are some breeds of dogs (poodles, maltese and schnauzers to name a few ) that are considered hypoallergenic to some degree because they produce less dander or have less hair than other breeds. Some designer breeds are not recommended for allergy sufferers due to the unpredictable outcome of their coats. Many people who own these designer breeds report that it does help!  Just keep in mind, there are no 100% "truly hypoallergenic" breeds out there, check out this AKC link Dogs and Allergies  to read more about the dogs that could be right for you!
