Meet Cookie The Lake Patrol Mascot

'Tis the season to hear heart warming stories. This next story comes to us via one of our clients Kelly Sears who on occasion gets to work with "Cookie". Cookie is a labrador/blue heeler mix and is the mascot for Austin's Lake Patrol. Owners Steve and Lou both were transferred to the Lake Patrol and being dog lovers, they decided that a mascot was in order. They set out to find their perfect match by visiting Town Lake Animal Center and the Humane Society, but didn't find a match. One weekend they saw a flier for a pet adoption group called Pawmatch who was having an adoption day at a local business, and that's where they found "Meila", a 7month old puppy. Pawmatch rescued her from Williamson County Animal Shelter who had her on their euthanasia list, and not too long after she was officially adopted by Steve and Lou and also got a name change. Cookie was named for her spotted chest that reminded the owners of cookies and cream ice cream! It took her a while to adjust to her new surroundings. Cookie was afraid of water, but her fellow furry family members helped her acclimate by practicing in the pool at home. Cookie now swims so well...she joins some of the cadets as they have swim trials in the lake! Cookie can often be found hanging out at the marina or on patrol waiting eagerly to take a jump off the boat into the water! Cookie is a true inspiration and great  example for anyone looking to adopt. It just goes to show how adopted pets can blossom if just given the right home!

Henry's Amazing Homecoming !!!

"Henry" the cat moved here in early 2010 with his family The Warrens. Shortly after settling into Buda, Henry went missing from his new home. The owners searched and called and were always on the look out, but after a few months, resigned themselves to the fact that Henry was not coming home. Fast forward to November (9 months later) of this year....The family was at the local gas station filling up their car car, and happened to see a cat that  looked VERY similar to Henry. The owners called out "Henry" and the cat responded......they then went to to get a closer look and IT WAS HENRY!!! Amazingly enough, Henry was found about 1 1/2 miles from home. The family will never know the details of his adventure away, but they now have their Henry home safe and sound. Now Juicey?, she is still getting use to having her furry brother home again, but she'll soon learn to love him again! We are very happy for The Warren Family and Henry's remarkable return home!

Harper B.'s Back in Action

Haper B getting TLC after her surgery
Standing tall after her recovery!
Harper B came to us back in early October with a leg injury and it turned out she had a torn ACL and would have to have surgery. Haprer went through surgery very well and had quite a long recovery (and is still on the mend) but she has done remarkably well.  She had quite a support staff at home and received lots of extra attention and is continuing to do better every day. We wish her well in the rest of her recovery !!
