Dear ,
Happy Holidays, Merry Xmas, and all of the other "politically correct" ways of wishing you Merry Christmas. This is the time we traditionally visualize snowy scenes, warm fire places, hot chocolate, the sound of sleigh bells, Christmas carolers and the company of family and friends. It is a season of giving. The season we celebrate the birth of Christ. As we conclude another year, let us not lose sight of all our blessings throughout the year.
The Chamber has been blessed with a good year through increased programs, community awareness, and a growth in membership. One new program this year is the President's Club. Contact Lesley about becoming a charter member and she can inform you of the many advantages of joining.
On behalf of the Chamber I wish you a
"Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"
Gene White, President Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce

Schlafly beer dinner a huge success!
The inaugural Schlafly beer pairings dinner sponsored by the Chamber took place Friday, November 12 at the Church Street Pub with a sold out crowd in attendance. The dinner featured four courses, each course paired with a different Schlafly Beer. Schlafly representative Nick Vickery was on hand to explain the pairings, answered questions regarding the St. Louis brewery, its role in the community and the state of the beer market.
The evening also featured a silent auction with donations from many local businesses. The Schlafly Brewery VIP tour for 10 was the big selling item of the evening which sold for a whopping $160!
The Chamber has already started planning for the event in 2011.

Executive Director looks to Chamber members to help support local charities.
I am both excited and honored to have been asked to participate in two local charity events:
"Stamp Out Cancer" will take place on Saturday, January 8, 2011, 6 pm - midnight at the Hillsboro Country Club. The event will feature local "celebrity" bartenders who will battle it out for tips. Stamp Out Cancer will also feature live entertainment provided by Hillsboro's very own Keeli Zerrusen and her Ramblin' Blues Band, a 50/50 drawing and a silent auction. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Montgomery County Cancer Association. I'm asking all members to come and support me during my shift (time TBD) and help stuff my tip jar. You may not be a drinker and that's ok, you are welcome to come and check out the wide selection of silent auction items and to have a good time. Cancer affects the lives of nearly every family in this area, and together we can stamp out cancer.
The second event, The Twelfth Annual Valentine Gala is set for February 12, 2011 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Taylor Springs. This annual event features celebrity servers, live entertainment, live and silent auction items and a delicious catered meal provided by Milanos' Catering. The goal this year is to exceed $80,000. Proceeds from this event benefit the Hillsboro Area Health Foundation.
I hope that you will choose to attend both of the above events. If you would like to make a contribution to either or both of the events, please feel free to contact myself by calling 816-6802 or via email Hillsborochamber@consolidated.net.
Thank you!
Lesley
