Dear  ,

As we start into August we are reminded of the unwinding of summer with the start of a new school year.  For Hillsboro our big climax to summer is "Old Settlers".  I hope everyone will be able to attend and enjoy the annual two day Hillsboro Holiday.

There is not much planned by the Chamber in the way of any events this month except for the farmer's market.  Again, we are asking for member volunteers to oversee the market from 4 to 7 pm each Thursday.  We have seen the number of vendors increase to 11 which represents about a 175% increase in vendors.  For the first time, we are wondering whether we will have enough space for everyone on the Plaza.  What a great problem to have!  So, please give Lesley a call at 532-3711 to find out which dates are in need of volunteers.  She will be greatly appreciative.

Please note the dates of upcoming events for the remainder of the month as outlined in this Business Brief.  I hope to see you at our next regular membership meeting on Friday, August 20th, 12:00 noon downstairs at the Moose Lodge.

Upcoming Give bloodBlood Drives

Please join us to donate blood and give what's in your heart for area patients!  If you are healthy and eligible, please give blood now when you have time.  Unfortunately, blood donations go down in the summer because people are busy with their summer vacations, and usage goes up at the same time due to an increase in travel-related accidents.  Please help your neighbors to have a safe summer!

Hillsboro Moose Lodge on Wednesday, September 15 from 12:00pm to 6:30 pm

Raymond Knights of Columbus Hall on Tuesday, September 21 from 2:30pm to 6:30pm

Nokomis Memorial Park House on Wednesday, September 22 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm

Central Illinois Community Blood Center is the blood provider to area patients of 19 counties at 19 central and southwestern Illinois hospitals.  We are the only provider of blood to Hillsboro Area Hospital, Pana Community Hospital, Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Memorial Medical Center and St. John's Hospital.  Please join us for this life-saving event.  If you have any questions about donating you can call 1-866-GIVE-BLD.  Walk-ins are always welcome, but to schedule an appointment call Jessica at 1-866-GIVE-BLD x 118 or sign up online at www.cicbc.org
