Life Worth Talking About, Part Three: Commitment to Action
Background Passages: Romans 1:8-17; 9:1-5; 10:1-21; 15:14-33
Today's Focal Passage:

10:14 But how can they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How welcome are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things!

15:17 Therefore I have reason to boast in Christ Jesus regarding what pertains to God. 18 For I would not dare say anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to make the Gentiles obedient by word and deed, 19 by the power of miraculous signs and wonders, and by the power of God's Spirit. As a result, I have fully proclaimed the good news about the Messiah from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum. 20 So my aim is to evangelize where Christ has not been named, in order that I will not be building on someone else's foundation,

- Romans 10:14-15; 15:17-20 (HCSB)

We are currently living in an age of tolerance. "You believe what you believe, and I'll believe what I believe, and as long as we don't attempt to influence or interfere with one another's life or beliefs than we will be just fine." While tolerance may be the cultural request of our day, Christ's command will always be the same: Go throughout the world and share My love with everyone!

Caring for the lost is not an option. Loving our neighbor (which includes all within the human race) is second only to loving God with all that we are.  Therefore, the concern we have for the lost must always translate into action.

As Christians, we are to approach every situation with charity and hospitality.  We are to create space for others to believe what they believe, and share what they believe without passing judgment or voicing condemnation upon them.

At the same time, however, it is our duty to share the Truth of the good news in love.  To withhold this truth from others... even if in the vein of tolerance, would be a great injustice to the God we love, the sacrifice of Jesus, the work of the Holy Spirit in this persons life... and ultimately to the salvation of the individual that we are trying so hard not to offend.

As children of God we have all been called to bear His name and share His name with others... wherever God might lead us... be it within our home, in our school or workplace, in our communities, country or around the world!

Father, give me the willingness to go and share Your good news with my life!

Think It Through

As we conclude, it is important to admit that practically speaking, not everyone can traverse the world spreading the gospel. You can, however, become involved in global missions through IMB by providing both prayer and financial support. This Sunday begins the Week of Prayer for International Missions. Check at the IMB's website at www.imb.org/weekofprayer to learn how you can become more involved in spreading the gospel worldwide.

Having examined all the texts in this study theme, it is fitting to close this final session with two questions: Why do you think the Christian life is better? How are you communicating this truth to others?
