Merry Christmas from SportsCare PT & Armworks Hand Therapy

Season's Greetings,

We hope you are getting into the holiday spirit this winter! With Christmas and New Year's quickly approaching we would like to share the last bit of 2011 SportsCare and Armworks news with you. Take a minute to check out pictures from our holiday party and don't miss our tasty treat recipe of the month, clinic news and staff birthdays.

Accepting Last Minute Food Donations!

Christmas is almost here, so help us fill our food bins by donating canned or non-perishable foods at any of our clinic locations. Food donations will stay in our community to help feed families in need this holiday season.

The Salvation Army will be picking up our food bins on December 20th so you still have time to donate and help fight hunger!

Holiday Closures

All SportsCare and Armworks clinics will be closed on Monday, December 26th in observance of Christmas.

Ho.. Ho.. Holiday Party!

This year SportsCare and Armworks celebrated the end of 2011 at McMenamins Kennedy School. Gateway SportsCare planned the holiday extravaganza. The theme was 'Casino Night' and all staff members were given $1000 in fake gambling chips to play Craps, Roulette, or Black Jack. After gambling the fake chips could be traded in for raffle tickets to win an assortment of fun prizes. Everyone enjoyed a buffet dinner, spirits, holiday music and good company! Two More Babies on the Way!

There are two more SportsCare babies on the way. Cameron Purington and his wife Melissa are having a baby May 10th, and they are keeping the gender a surprise.

Vanessa Gray a PTA at our Gresham clinic is expecting her second child on June 12th.

Other Baby Updates...

Heather Odell is due April 8th, and has found out she is having a BOY!

Sarah Borski's baby GIRL will be here in two weeks with the due date of January 1st.

Portland Shockwave's Annual Bowling Fundraiser

Heidi Loeback, an Athletic Trainer at our Happy Valley clinic and Clackamas High School would like to invite you to her women's football league annual bowling fundraiser. Proceeds from the event go towards Portland's Premier Women's Full-Contact Football Team. For more details visit the Shockwave's website or Facebook page .

Are you interested in playing in a women's football league? Portland Shockwave is having one final official team try-out on Saturday, 12/17 from 10:30am-1pm @ Mittleman Jewish Community Center's indoor soccer complex: 6651 SW Capitol Highway, Portland, 97219.

Recipe of the Month ~
Mint Truffles

Ingredients:

-One package of cream cheese

-One package of mint Oreo's

-Two boxes of semi-sweet baking chocolate

Directions part one:

In a food processor blend the full package of Mint Oreo cookies into crumbs

-Set ¼ - ½ cup cookie crumbs aside to use as the finishing sprinkle

In a large bowl mix cookie crumbs and cream cheese

Once thoroughly mixed hand roll 'dough' into small balls - and refrigerate 45-60 minutes

Directions part two:

Melt chocolate in a double broiler

Dip cooled balls in melted chocolate

Remove balls and let chocolate cool on wax paper

Sprinkle remaining Oreo crumbs on top for a decorative touch

Cool in fridge
