Kelder's Farm
What's Up?
Strawberries!
They're early--and there are lots of sweetest little red ones just past the eighth hole. And there's lots more to pick to take home for your holiday picnic on Kelder's Pick-Your-Own fields.

strawberries
Besides strawberries, the mini-golf has lots of greens and herbs from bok choy to beautiful feathery fennel, and the chives are blooming like mad. Rye, oats, barley and buckwheat are sprouting, and there are lots of tiny green plums growing larger, and even a few cherries this year on our baby cherry tree.
More Eggs!
The killdeer eggs have hatched out and gone, but in the meantime, our geese have laid a clutch, for the very first time. At last count there were eleven eggs, and they're being very closely guarded from the neighborhood crows, who have already managed to get at least one.
Honk if you love geese! It's amazing, they actually feather their nests.

Hens Get New Digs
Many thanks to all who helped find a couple of retired hens for the chicken gazebo on the second tier of the mini-golf. Lisa Randleman suggested her neighbor and it all worked out! Dawn Wolstencroft and her daughter Lindsey Takacs had a couple of 4-H Rhode Island Reds that are now happily relocated--we're calling them Click and Cluck, after two of our favorite radio personalities.

Click and Cluck, happily in their new digs (in fact the first thing one of them did was scratch the ground and grab a worm).

Sprucing Up the Mini-Golf
We've been busy little gnomes the past month, finishing the new sign, making new sunshades, plus planting and weeding, weeding, weeding. And there's that pesky 10th Hole, up and playable, but still not finished.
Our new entrance, songbird included.

new sign
We're on a Ukrainian kick, thanks to inspiration of Paul Sadowski and of Lisa Jessup. We made new sun shades from recycled billboard vinyl, incorporating the printing into our designs.

Mini-Golf Tasting Tours
Join us for a tasting tour of the edible landscaping of Homegrown Mini-Golf. There's always lots of fruit, vegetables, herbs and even flowers to taste, some familiar, some unusual. You'll get to see what your favorite foods look like while they're still growing, see how different they taste when they're truly fresh-picked. We'll share interesting science, lore, and cooking tips. This is a fun activity for adults and kids, very sensual and playful. Admission $5, includes a game of miniature golf.
Saturdays, 2:00 pm, June 5, June 12, and June 19.
Homegrown Mini-Golf is a tasting garden, too.
