Note from Dragon Boat Festival Co-Chairs, Len Campbell & Pat Finney: There is much excitement being generated through local media advertising, increasing registrations, and support from the local business community for this year's fesitival. Current registrations are at 60 teams and climbing (our goal is 100 teams). SMDC Foundation, our charitable partner is fully engaged and already has 5 teams of their own that will race. Together, we're working hard to make this the best event ever! Please mark your calendars for the Wednesday, July 14th Team Captain Appreciation Night at Barker's Island.

Note from Charitable Partner, SMDC Foundation New this year! We are encouraging teams to turn in pledge monies weekly, beginning June 7th. Not a requirement, but the Top Individual Fundraiser each week will be awarded a gift certificate donated by one of several area restaurants. Digital Mammography at St. Mary's Hospital of Superior is again designated to receive the proceeds from the team pledges. Please see your Team Captain packet for further details on pledging and prizes. |

Note from Race Day Director, Megan Kress In an effort to make the practice scheduling smoother and error free, Megan is experimenting with a new on-line scheduling site for practices. She hasn't gotten all of the bugs worked out of it just yet, so please stay tuned for more info in our next webletter. In the meantime, remember that every team gets two 1 hour practices, and YES....YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND! This is important for safety. To reach Megan regarding LSDBF practice related questions, please contact her at [email protected]. Finally, the Duluth Boat Club is excited to announce their regional dragon boat club! Membership is $25 for the first year, and $15 for every year thereafter. Being a member of the group grants you more access to the dragon boats through clinics, open morning paddles, and reduced team rental rates for practices outside of the realm of the Festival. For more info about the dragon boat club, please contact Megan Kress at [email protected]
