LOW COST HIGH SPEED INTERNET FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES

The digital divide remains one of the greatest barriers to strong communities in the Commonwealth.  Access to technology is expanding in Massachusetts, however, prohibitive costs can prevent low-income groups from accessing key technologies and sources of information.  To help lessen this burden, Comcast has recently expanded its Internet Essentials program, which provides low cost internet connection services to low-income individuals.

Internet Essentials started with the offer of broadband service for only $9.95 per month for families with students who qualify for free lunch in our school systems.  Now, Comcast has extended that offer to families with students who qualify for free OR reduced school lunch, and has also increased the speed of the service to 3 megabits per second.  Additionally Comcast offers these families a computer at the low cost of $149.99 as well as access to free internet training to provide them with the tools they need.

For more information on how to take advantage of this opportunity or spread the word to clients or other organizations visit InternetEssentials.com

SAMARITAN SURVIVOR SUPPORT GROUPS
Over 800,000 people worldwide end their lives annually.  Seven to ten people -- parents, children, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, grandchildren and close friends -- deeply feel the devastation of each loss.
That means that approximately 5 million "survivors" are left behind every year.
Samaritans has expanded the number of sites on the Cape & Islands for their survivor support groups including Falmouth, Hyannis and Nantucket.  These groups honor and respect the needs of the survivors, provide unconditional emotional support, help survivors gain courage and comfort from one another, and deal with a unique grief that is often not understood by others.
