Your Monthly Guide to Looking and Feeling Better
|
Dear Omega Client,
Each month we will bring to you a simple stretch that can easily be incoporated into your daily routine to help you look and feel better. Use caution when performing the stretches. If you have any abnormal pain or discomfort during the stretch, or if you are currently experiencing symptoms in the area associated with the stretch, discontinue the stretch.
As always, you are welcome to call us today for a FREE CONSULATION!
This month is the "Hip Flexor Stretch". |
We all tend to sit for prolonged periods of time. Whether in front of the computer, the car, in class, or watching tv, this position tends to tighten our hip flexors, which can cause undue strain on the low back, predisposing us to injury and pain. This stretch helps to elongate the hip flexion muscles, allowing you to focus less on your back pain and more on important things!
Note: These muscles can also get tight from repetitive activities like jogging. |
| The "Hip Flexor Stretch" |
|
To perform this stretch, kneel on the ground. As shown in the picture, kneel with the right knee down and the left leg forward. Make sure your left foot is forward enough so your left knee is over top of the left ankle. Bring your hips forward, and maintain an upright posture. You should feel a stretch in the the front of the hip in your back leg (in this picture, the right leg).
Hold for 30-60 seconds, switch sides, and repeat frequently throughout the day or whenever you feel tension or tightness.
If you have problems kneeling down, you can place a pillow under your back knee for comfort. |
We hope this Body Blurb was helpful to you. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call me.
