As always, check our Events and Resources sections to see what we have been up to, what is coming up and what resources we have available. Our Annual Report for 2011 is out and you can read it HERE!

AboutFace is excited to announce the appointment of one our dedicated volunteers, Colleen Wheatley, to the position of Manager of Programs & Camp! Although we are very sad to see Randy Pielsticker leave this position to pursue a Masters of Glaciology, we know that Colleen will be a great addition to our organization. Randy has been the driving force behind AboutFace's experiential programming in recent years and we would not be where we are today without his dedication and hard work.
Colleen comes to us with a B.A. in Family and Social Relations as well as a Masters in Social Work. She has been an active volunteer with AboutFace for many years and is even the star of our "Facing Differences" school program, which she filmed at age 12. She has also volunteered at Camp Trailblazers several times as well as went on our Leadership Expedition and Adult Retreat alongside Randy. Colleen's personal experience couple with her education makes her an ideal candidate for this position and a great asset to the AboutFace team!

by Judy Tye - Mother and retired teacher

The bigger question, however, was to follow: how do we explain her birthmark to the teachers and the other children, and prepare her for the possible reactions to which she would be exposed throughout her academic future? Fortunately, our daughter attended more>>

Tammy's Story

by Tammy Richardson, mother of Mikalya

When I became pregnant with my daughter Mikayla, I was so excited when the doctor told me she was a girl. You see, she has three older brothers and to finally have a girl as my last child was just amazing. My pregnancy was completely normal. There were no indications that there was anything wrong with her. At 32 weeks I began feeling uncomfortable and felt like I needed to get checked out. I knew it was too early for labour so I got my friend to take me to the hospital to make sure everything was ok. more>>
